Discussion: 75+ Super Seniors Softball League

Big League Dreams in Perris, CA has granted us permission to form a 75+ Super Seniors Softball League on Mondays starting in January 2026 provided there's enough interest.  Anaheim, CA already has a 75+ league and it has been flourishing for the past several years.

First in the Nation 75+ Super Seniors League Forms

A League Above:
By Mike Sisavic
Softball News Report

For lifelong softball players, aging out of the game isn’t just about slowing down, it’s about losing a piece of your identity. The softball diamond has been a second home, the crack of the bat a familiar soundtrack, the camaraderie irreplaceable. But what happens when the reflexes slow, the legs don’t move like they used to, and the competitive leagues leave you behind? Where does an aging player go to keep playing?

This spring, Mike Sisavic and Ed Curtin produced a solution: build something new, a league exclusively for players 75 and older. They created the Super Seniors division of the Portland (Oregon) Area Senior Softball League, a first-of-its-kind in the nation venture. ...

When Is It Time to Hang Up the Cleats?
By Mike Sisavic
Softball News Report

How do you know when you've played your last season of softball? For me, the answer seemed obvious.  By the end of last year, my player ranking in our local rec league had dropped to “D.” My days of competing in SSUSA tournaments were over. At 85, I could no longer hit a ball past infielders, many of them my son’s age. It was time to toss my cleats in the trash and recycle my bat. Sound familiar?

But then I played my only tournament of the year—and everything changed. In an 80+ championship game in St George, I batted .700, held my own at  first base, and we won in extra innings, 28-25! What a blast! ...
This is a great idea. We, really old, senior softball players need something like this. I personally find it getting more difficult by the week to compete against the kids (70 yr olds), so I would welcome this. Count WJB in!
The inaugural season of a separate Masters Division of age 73+
In our Senior Softball Association (RASSA) in Birmingham AL has
been a resounding success. Consisting of 4 teams of 12-14 players competing two days a week in a 48 game season played on a reduced dimension field (65 ft bases, 225 ft fence) has worked well enough to even satisfy the “purists”. Younger women (50+) integrate really well into our league. Has been so much fun
and competitive.
SASSL San Antinio has had an over 75 draft league for the last ten years with a lot of success, play once a week Thursday morning, a lot of the players also play on our over 70 Tuesday morning league.
