Discussion: Player Ratings

Can a 60AAA player play 55AA as a AA player?
YEP!
Yes ... Those are equivalent Rating Index divisions (R/I = 5)
So I can have 3 55AAA players and 7 60AAA and play as 55AA.
Not necessarily ... That wasn't the original question you asked, nor was it the basis for the answer you got ... You asked about "..a 65-AAA player.." [singular], not a whole minivan full of them ...

If you want your 60-AAA team to "play down" in the 55's age division, that will require pre-approval by the Sacramento Home Office ... The deciding factor will be our sole determination if your AAA team is simply too strong to play AA ... If so, you may, as a result, be required to play 55-AAA ... Call (916) 226.5303 during business hours in the Pacific time zone and ask for the eligibility and ratings folks ...
So when does a 55AA team get bumped after winning tournaments against AAA teams and scoring 18 plus runs a game? Since Strength of team is also a determining factor.
If a 55AA team goes 5-0 scores 18 plus runs a game and wins a tournament that's just luck?
That was a pretty smooth transition from a question about a single 60-AAA player wanting to play down, to a mini-van full of them wanting to play down, with a sharp hair-pin turn into a complaint department side trip about a mystery un-named 55-AA team that wins too much! ...

Rob, I don't do ratings, and that's probably a good thing for everyone ... If you feel strongly about it, please correspond with the Home Office by email to info@seniorsoftball.com ... The email should be specific and not be anonymous, which isn't a problem for you as one of the folks who "owns" their commentary here ... Maybe we spotted them in the mid-year ratings cycle, and maybe we didn't ... But we'll always look at it ... Thanks!

Hi Dave, After following instructions his efforts availed him nothing!!! LOL
I can now change my question to if a AA team is 10-0 scoring 18 plus runs a game in a AAA bracket and winning their 2nd SSUSA tournament in a row when do they become AAA? They have become slower due to all the sand!!!
PS Congratulations to winning 2 ring tournaments this year as AA!
Hey Rob ... With the Eastern's and Western's breathing down my neck, I don't have a lot of free time to play the "Who's The Team? Scavenger Hunt" game ... Drop me a short note to dave@seniorsoftball.com and I'll move it along just out of curiosity ... Need the team's name and tourney ... Thanks ...
Mr. Dowell ... while Rob64 hasn't dropped the name of the team in question, I will. The team is Detroit Pride. Due to the familiarity we have with the Michigan teams/players, we know who played what last year. This team has 8 KNOWN AAA players from last year that supposedly some of them got reclassed, it's become apparent to not only the 55 AAA team's they've played but to the 60 AAA team's as well, that they are manipulating the system. And while I as a manager/player have never cared who we play, I have always asked that it be fair across the board. That being the case, my team played them this weekend. According to SSUSA rules, they get the equalizer because of being one class lower. Fine. I get that. Things are now supposed to be equal and fair across the board at this point right?! Except that isn't the case. Not only do they get the equalizer, but then said AAA team gets hit with a second disadvantage of having their home runs taken away. If the reason for the extra player/runs is what makes the 2 team's equal at that point, then shouldn't both teams still be able to hit their respective hr's? This question is also posed under another thread pertaining to HR's. And while I am aware that SSUSA likes to be their own sanction and do some things differently than other sanctions, other sanctions have already made that adjustment and are not hitting same age, different class team's with a "double penalty".
Brotherhood - you get the benefit of being the home team (written with with heavy sarcasm).
Christom10 .... I'm glad you wrote that with heavy sarcasm. Being home team means nothing when you have to try to hit around 11 fielders AND not allowed to hit it over the fence as well. They can keep their "benefit of being home team". (Phrased politely)
Brotherhood,

I've said this all along, it's not bad enough you have to give up 5 runs or the extra fielder then you're also limited on HR's as well. It's 100% penalizing the higher division teams, first you're either giving up 5 runs or they have an 11th fielder. Then you take away their HR's as well and say well you get to be the home team automatically.
There should be a coin flip and each team should be allowed to hit their allowable HRs. Each (well run)team is comprised to guys to fill certain roles. Because Major and Major+ teams are allowed far more HR's than AA and AAA that's how their rosters and lineups are built, they have multiple guys that can hit HR's at will and even have guys that frequently hit "Oops" HR's. AA and AAA wouldn't fill their lineups with guys that can do that because it would be a detriment to their teams and how the team is built so you shouldn't penalize the M M+ for how their rosters are built because either there aren't enough teams signed up or a unnecessarily combines divisions so they don't have to give more prizes out because there are more divisions which happens way too often.
John028 .... I'm with you.
