I purchased a 2024 Miken Johnny Bailey in early 2024. This is the black bat and not to be confused with the newer dark blue ones released later in the year. I took about 19 swings in BP with it. Later I played in a practice game with the fellas. 2nd at bat, the barrel fell of. The bat broke in half. So maybe 12 swings. $220 for 12 swings seemed like a lot--but no warranty, so what are you going to do. Until a buddy of mine told me his broke too. A big crack straight across the barrel. On my team alone, there were 4 bats that had the same issue. I called Miken and they told me to submit a warranty request and send the bat back. Which I did. To my surprise, they sent a replacement bat. Cool. Except that one broke in less than 25 swings. They would not replace it a second time. I subsequently found a JB bat review by Big Chef softball. Here's the video. https://youtu.be/qK3DFWy6x4A?si=F6pIbnS2qQw2ZybS at about the 8:30 mark of this video, Big Chef states that this bat is different than the black one which had a defect and would break at the same place as ours broke. If Miken/Rawlings knows that these bats had a defect, why did they not offer replacements right away. Now I have a buddy who has the same bat with the same crack and they will do nothing for him. He broke the bat last summer and just put it in the garage. We were talking about the JB bats when he realized he had the same problem. Only now, they just tell him there is no warranty. I would assert that this is not a warranty issue, but instead a workmanship or materials issue. Not only were purchasers not notified that there was a defect, now they wont't even replace them knowing they were defective. Doesn't sound like Miken is standing behind their products or workmanship. Just a cautionary tale for those buying Miken product. They refuse to 'make it right'.
I had a similar experience with the same bat. Cracked right across the M. I sent it in and they denied the claim. How disappointing that they wouldn’t stand behind their product. I was just denied today and they are already sending the old bat back to me. It’s an obvious defect but they refuse to make it right.
Quite a few years ago. I bought 2 Miken Ultra 2 Bats. I was breaking in one of them. It still had the wrapper on it. I took less than 20 swings and it broke. Not only would they not replace it, I told the I wanted to return the second one. It still had the wrapper on it with zero swings. They refused to take it back. To this day, I refuse to even touch the crap that Miken makes. I know some players like them. But really you do not see many players using Miken bats. I do not understand why they are still in business.
Purchased 27oz JB bat jan24,started using Spring practice games. After about 75 swings noticed a deep notch near top of handle, which spread around the handle during next BP. Showed to some players, they advised me to no longer use it, due to chance the carbon composition may "eventually splinter" at plate and be a hazard to nearby players. Sounded good to me,so threw it in nearby trash can. I have new 27oz MD bal which I used entire season with no problems, and 2yr old 28oz JB and MD which both have about 400 swings with no problems(yet). I like the bats, but will not buy another JB after my recent experience with black2024. Good luck to everyone at 2025 TOC! Geo
I have one that broke as well. Right at the connection at the barrel. It’s the Rust and green one. Bad
