Discussion: Bat Hammers
I can see the controversy that a rolled bat has brought out - but rolled bats are not the issue - shaved bats are the issue - a new shaved bat will pass compression therfore compression tests are not the answer - a player works for years -months to break that bat down to their swing speed whether bp -tee work or what they can - I am from Canada so bp or tee work is not an option for us from Nov to May - needless too say - WE are at a disadvantage coming into winter spring tournaments - the bat hammer intrigues though - have used a similar device to break in gloves over the long winters here - the ball used at the end of a bat handle is still a regulation ball - 44/375 and if used on the bat will def not put as much wear and tear as bp - so not sure how much influence a "bat hammer" will have on altering a bat - to really even things out and get rid of cheaters - find a way to measure the thickness of barrels - not compression - that hurts players who actually take some damn bp
Johnny23,
I honestly don't think anyone is really strong enough combined with the weight of the ball/handle could really break in a bat.
