Midwest Qualifier-Shawnee, KS Feedback
This past weekend we played in the Midwest Qualifier in Shawnee, Ks. While the complex (Mid-America SC) was awesome as always, I have a couple issues with how the tournament was run. The first issue is that, after a lengthy weather delay there were no games played on Saturday evening, even though it was sunny and clear by 6pm, and instead everyone was brought back to play 5 inning games on Sunday until the final. This complex has all turf fields and good lighting. When I asked the director on Sunday why games weren't resumed on Saturday evening he literally told me that they didn't because some teams had dinner reservations and didn't want to stick around. Seriously??? We pay a lot of $ for entry fees, pay for hotel rooms and often take time off work to travel. Any option that allows us to play full games and complete the tournament should be done. Our assumption is that the real reason games weren't played in the evenings is that they didn't want to pay for use of the lights. Again, I understand they're trying to make money but if you want teams coming back you take the option that let's us play the full games we're paying for. The second issue is that they clearly didn't have an umpires meeting prior to the start of the tournament. Every game we played with a different umpire we had the batters box rules called differently. Have a meeting and get some consistency...please.

Don’t think they gave out any all tournament award either.. I heard they did give a MVP award though.

I would think for $475.00 entry fee they would have been able to provide water in that heat! Also I agree no tournament MVP or player awards.

Tom from Prime Time here, I have no qualms about the sheduling. It is what it is. My issue was the umpiring in our championship games. I know the rules, but, if the umpire is going to dictate the outcome by being onesided is very screwed up. We got called out twice for having our back foot in front of the plate by an inch or 2 when the ball got hit. First off, we have it on tape that it was not true on one of them, secondly, this umpire had a hard on for us as we have him on the same tape saying "we can't have an out of state team winning this because they don't know OUR rules ". Very unprofessionable. SSUSA are the same all over. And you would think after paying the fees we could get 2 umpires in championship games,

75 finals #1 Mavericks Major +, 2nd Midwest Fossils AAA, 3rd KC Kids 75 Major, then Bayle Chev.

Good competition overall pretty good teams except 80AAA team and they had no chance of winning a game...give them crdeit as they came back for 2nd day!
