When will SSUSA have the ability and/or staff to update the bracketing as the tourney evolves? We as coaches/players would love to be able to sign in or go to the bulletin board and look to see what the brackets look like. Most sanction are able to do this and it is extremely helpful for teams to know when they are playing and who without having to stand at a field and wait for the board to be updated or wait for text or calls. For the teams that start bracket on the day after seeding it would be nice to see what teams you are preparing for.

I have see previous post for this a while back and still nothing has been updated or changed. SSUSA cost per tourney is one of the highest for any sanction and would be nice to maybe use some of the funds to get close to real time bracket update. Appreciate the updates after tourney, when they are updated, but that doesn't help during.

And The Abuse of the Equine Corpse continues ... Despite every score for every game of the current Spring World's being online on a "same day basis" ...

Dave,

Wouldn't it just be easier to make it happen instead of having to keep addressing it week in week out, month in month out, year in year out? Or maybe give people a reason it can't be done when every single other association at pretty much every level of ball from Tee Ball to Senior ball has been able to do. I mean I've seen this brought up so many times the past 2 or 3 years and have never seen an actual reason it can't be done(not saying it's not been posted or addressed just never saw it addressed). They do bring up a lot of valid points cost of SSUSA tourneys being higher than every single other association is a valid reason. Prices have gone up exponentially(everywhere in the world I know) and we get less and less. A couple years ago at Vegas Worlds we would get a really nice All Tournament Medal and 3 MVP medals and if I remember right this past year we got 1 medal and prices were $100 higher. We used to get like 3 patches to hand out at every tourney for all tourney team and haven't seen those at a tourney anymore. No other association has gone up nearly as much as SSUSA while still taking away "swag". The other associations have all gone up some but we are still getting the same "swag" and prize packages they always gave out. Maybe something like live scoring which to my knowledge costs nothing would be a way to appease some people. I've seen directors use their phones and update scores as the cards are handed in and it takes a minutes or two at the most per score.

2 different topics.

Brackets:13 different age levels so maybe 30 brackets. DD tries to arrange that teams play out of area teams play each other in Pool Play. That is plug and play not insert teams and hit send. Number of teams per division determines site because of local restraints. It has been 5 days since deadline closed. I am guessing end of week.

I guess I would rather get team credit than stuff. IMO

Softball4b,

You do realize that you can still put people in whatever pool play games you want to. Has nothing to do with scoring posting live updated scoring. BTW, I don't know who makes each bracket for each tourney we play but I can tell you we've driven/flown to different parts of the country and still ended up playing team from Chicago where are from in Pool play.
Fine, you would rather have team credits. Some people would rather have the swag which can be anything from patches, medals, or whatever you want. We play some associations that give gloves, bats, or even jerseys for the team. Bottom line is regardless of which side of the coin you stand on as far as what you receive for winning, the prices went up drastically and we lost almost all "Swag". Every other association had the same escalating fees like Umps, Field costs, balls etc but nobody else has raised prices greatly like SSUSA and taken things away in the process. Least they could do is give the players what they have asked for hundreds of times now which is live updated scoring and a way for people to look up online right after games are over what the results are. It's not that difficult.

Softball4b ... That "Abuse of the Equine Corpse" line was originally coined by a great old-school Sr. Softball Hall of Fame Legend nicknamed "The Wood" ... You'll know who he is when I tell you he ran the Major+ GSF (Golden State Fasteners) franchise for years ... He is a very funny man! ... I saw him a year or so ago at a Hall of Fame induction and we were laughing about that line ... The first time he used it here, in exactly this context, very few people figured out it's just a fancy way to say "Beating a Dead Horse" ... Maybe he'll chime in this time around! ...

JohnO, I knew I had posted this a while back and so I took your challenge. Before I go on, I would like to know Dave/Tim, anyone if there is a search feature in your own messages, finding this took WAY too long! lol

I am sure that Dave doesn't need anyone to stick up for him, he answers all inquiries (within reason) but the issue with results are twofold:
1) large brackets but mostly the fact that they are 3GG vs DE
*NEW ADDITION - there was a vote to go to 4GG to keep costs down, tghis was voted down by members hence taking away the possibility to utilze a different results engine like Quickscores, whom SSUSA has had conversations with and the 3GG wrap is the issue)

2) His current system is proprietary, means that an office worker can't just open up excel and update the scores, they have to be done on HIS machine which seems to be in constant use in creating the next big tourney.

Like all I would love to see results in a timely fashion but have decided to allow everyone else to complain and assume that at some point this will get resolved, just like the ball and the count as curveball stated.

Happy Holidays to all and good luck in 2018!

Like I said in an earlier post it would a pice of cake to post all the scores of games. The thing is
I would have to have all the park supervisors do there job 100% at the end of each game without fail.
Thats where the problem lays getting them to email me the scores immediately after the game has ended,
but that would be like pulling teeth and asking way to much of them to do, cell phones are an amazing
tool if used properly.

MCK71,

That probably did take you way too long. My only answer is, well every other association also offers 4 GG and 5 GG tourneys and still are able to use Quickscores and others. But you kind of nailed the it on the head. If an entire company is doing all these tourneys off of 1 single computer and only accessible by 1 person then maybe it's time to upgrade. If what you say is true and only Dave can do it, what is something were to happen and Dave needed to be off work for a few months? Sounds like with your explination the entire SSUSA tourney infrastructure would collapse and nobody would play a single tourney.

I am quite sure at least Fran has the password to his laptop JohnO, she is CEO and his wife, so we are good there.

Happy Easter all! :-)

MCK71,

The point is every other association can and does offer 5 GG using quickscores or some other online venue to post scores. It's a very antiquated system.

OK guys, I appreciate your concern for my well-being, although it's probably not viewed from my perspective as very sincere ... There's enough outdated and incorrect information being tossed out that the time has come to close this thread ... I'm happy and healthy ... And I'm content with my ability to draft fairly good schedules, handling mega-tournaments with brackets up to 85 teams, employing conditional "If" games in the elimination brackets to prevent any team getting an unfair advantage of a four-game guarantee and a unique sub-system for creating desirable seeding game match-ups ... I have no intention of apologizing for not having the technical expertise to incorporate "on the fly instant scoring" ... Heck, we did on the fly scoring in St. George last week and got pounded as though we had done nothing ... It's hilarious to me that the guys who show up here in the bright yellow VW Bug and wearing big floppy shoes think is a "piece of cake" (Hint: It's not) ...

This is my product, like it or not ... I'm an independent contractor and when (or if) SSUSA decides to make a change to another scheduling systems expert, they have full rights to do what they want ... That time isn't currently scheduled by either party! ... Happy Easter!
