League competition between different age brackets
We have a small league, 14 teams, with players ages from 50-80+ participating. The issue we have is in trying to create a bit more even competition between the 50+ teams and the 60+ teams when they crossover in league play. The idea to use a restricted flight ball for when the 50+ teams bat was suggested. Has anyone tried this as a solution when divisions with age differences play? Currently we just use the 5 runs for the 60+ teams but it usually makes very little difference. Our league uses a .44 COR/375 Comp ball. Research on the different COR/Comp combinations is muddled and somewhat confusing and seems to have a lot of variables. Has anyone been in this situation and if so can you shed any light on this subject? What are some other possible solutions that have been tried?
