Move Elgin's Windy City Tournament date
No way will you get teams to play in April in northern Illinois. Last year April 6th was too cold to use senior bats and April 1st won't be any warmer this year. Early July would work better, lack of opportunities between Quad Cities and Milwaukee Classic in Great Lakes region.

I honestly don't think this tourney has been played since 2019 and there were 3 50s teams in it and it was held in August. Since then wasn't even scheduled for 2020, 2021 it was canceled as well as 2022. I agree there should be no tourneys scheduled in Chicago area for first week of April. It's ironic that it's scheduled for April Fools Day.

Ill never do a April Tournament In Illinois (windy city) or Indy (brickyard) actually I will never do brickyard ever unless there's a change in venue, I gave it 2 years fields suck worse than the time of year! Needs to be Ohio! That is where we will be a little bird told me about a new event, if it's going to be cold might as well be on good turf fields!

I think it's a SSUSA tournament not scheduled yet. Look after January 2nd.

Not sure why Sacramento is so stubborn on sticking to April 1st as a date other than it's April Fool's Day. It's going to be toooo cold.

Does the Elgin facility even run their Senior League play anymore. If so, I think it would be a fair question to find out when they start. Others may have a more expansive knowledge than mine, but I would doubt that any leagues start that early so why have a tourney at such an early date, especially one that's recent history shows it is less than an attractive offering.

Weese,

Couldn't agree more. This tourney has never been able to find a home which with the amount of Senior teams in the Midwest is kind of ridiculous. They went from one extreme to the other they used to play it in July and August on the exact same weekend as ISA Senior Worlds in Colombus IN. It's been canceled more times than played since it was moved. It's been brought up multiple times on these boards and it's always ignored over and over. To try to play a tourney at the beginning of April in Chicago makes zero sense. Not to mention while its a decent complex there are like 10 fields there but only 2 of them are 300'. The vast majority of them are 265-280' and like one that is like 290' all the way around.

Tim,
Most leagues around Chicago start after the first weekend in April but then again I don't know of any Senior leagues that actually allow the use of Senior bats. But more direct to your point I dont know any leagues that start April 1st.

Cowtown in KC last year was the first Thurs-Fri in April. Been playing 44 years and that tourney was the coldest one ever. Thurs afternoon was 33 degrees with a 20 MPH north wind and a mixture of sleet/snow in the afternoon. Friday wasnt much better, a few degrees warmer, but still terrible wind but at least no snow/sleet. I could not play Friday as my back stiffened up and I could barely walk on Friday. We had a Chicago player on our team who played and told us Windy City got cancelled during the week when they saw the forecast. At least this year Cowtown got moved back 2 weeks to the middle of April. There is no reason to play any tournament north of New Mexico, Okl, Ark, Tenn or North Car in the 1st week in April. Really taking a chance with Mother Nature.

@BH44,
that was pretty good.

@Parman,
now that makes sense to move a tourney in the Midwest later in the year albeit it's only 2 weeks but its a much better move than moving it earlier into the year.

This tournament needs to be moved to September prior to Las Vegas , perfect time to get an extra guy qualified , especially since Crown Point has been moved to Indianapolis. In my humble opinion.

Tried advising you that it would be too cold here in the upper Midwest for a tournament on April 1st.
