Flip Flop in the Worlds?
I'm not going to get into team names but as a player on one of them we found ourselves in a flip flop situation. We were the visitors up 11 runs against a very good hitting team going into the open inning. The umpire called for a flip flop. Our team hit well enough to put this other team in this position and should have been able to put this game away. Unfortunately the flip allowed the other team to get into a rhythm. They scored I believe 18 runs in the open. We were unable to respond in the bottom of the 7th thus losing the game. Flip Flop shouldn't punish a team that still had momentum heading into the open. The second thought on this is: If you are going with run differentials for placements, you could possibly punish a team. Lets say that In this situation the team had scored 12 runs and then we were able to answer back with 2 runs we would have then only had the 1 run added to our total run differential. I realize that there are several what (if) scenarios here but I felt it was food for thought. How about keep flip flop in league and keep it out of the worlds.
