Aug. 26, 2022 garyheifner 629 posts | I am very serious. I watched Dave's (senior softball bat reviews) August wrap up. He took off as to his feelings regarding players who shave bats. He did not mention rolling a bat. That is why my question. I keep seeing ads pop up offering services for both. Trying to figure out why anyone would do either if illegal and the penalties if caught. |

Aug. 27, 2022 garyheifner 629 posts | Thanks Dave-I have heard so many different conversations/opinions on rolling. It just peaked my interest to find out the official rule of which I had no idea. |
Aug. 27, 2022 DaveDowell Men's 70 4046 posts | Hi Gary ... That's the easy statement of the rule prohibiting altering a bat by rolling it ... ANYTHING (other than using the bat for it's intended purpose of striking official softballs) causing a change in the technical specifications of the bat as it came off the production line, is considered altering the bat ... For years (decades?), we have heard the "accelerated break in" excuse by the "bat cheaters" to rationalize their behavior ... It's simply a delusional avoidance of personal responsibility to play our game honorably and legally ... Play safely and have fun! ... |
