So disappointed in Sunday fields. Worst fields ever and for final day. And 3 game guarantee bracket needs LOTS of work. A mess.

First of All I would like to thank Amy Jackson and the entire ISA Staff as I thought this was a very, very well run tournament overall, as it is most every year. Thank You ! Well done!

I believe the Secondary Complex (Dunn Stadium) (which we also played at on Sunday), was needed for use this weekend, since the overall number of teams increased from 46 to I think around 58 (give or take?) .

Lincoln Park was very, very good in my opinion. I do agree Dunn Stadium is not a tournament level complex at all. Dunn needs a lot of work. From Outfields being in bad shape, not level, lots of bad hops, dugouts weren't big enough for an entire team to fit inside, 2nd base was on the cut of the outfield grass (short and 2nd had to play on the grass) several openings in the fences for balls to go out of play.

At the end of the weekend we still got to play softball and we had a great time although finishing 2 runs behind in the Championship game.

One of the ISA guys said there is a better facility to use as a secondary complex in Shelbyville but it was not available this past weekend?? I've never been to that one, so I don't know?

I would like to suggest, and I believe this topic has been brought up to both SSUSA and ISA in the past, but it would be outstanding if we could get our schedules on line in real time. I had to wait for phone calls to find out when next game is (or hang around the field for a few hours) to find out what time next game would be or how the seeding games on Friday would pan out for Saturday Schedule.

I think it has something to do with the 5 game guarantee (and triple elimination bracket) for a small number of teams? I don't think an App like "quick scores" as one example can work with the extra games in that bracket? I'm not an I.T. person but you'd think somebody could make that work?

Maybe it would be better to play 3 seeding games to start and go straight to the double elimination for all??? But I'd also say Maybe I wouldn't want to do that / because on days when its 95/100+ degrees, why play an extra game and risk fatigue or injury if you don't have to?

17Black, it was good to see you this weekend. I had suggested Shelbyville (Blue River Memorial Park). It is a very nice 4 diamond complex that is maybe 30 minutes up I-65 and is much nicer than Lincoln. It also has motels and the casino that some of the guys drove to anyway. The guy that runs it had promised the fields to the director and then said that he double booked. Guess who lost the fields? Unfortunately he is known for this behavior before. The problem is that the other good fields local are usually booked; Shelbyville rarely is. I am thinking about going down to Seymour and looking around. We used to do Martin Electric tournaments down there, but I do not know if those fields are even still being maintained. If anyone reading this does know that, please share that with me. None of the ISA directors are even close to local so I try to be as helpful to them as possible. They are a great bunch of guys. The last time that I was at Dunn, it was hit by a tornado a few weeks before, and no one really noticed. At least they never schedule a team to stay there the entire tournament. Congratulations on your 2nd place. That looked like a very tough division. Hopefully I will catch up with you again this season. Best wishes.

Thanks Nancy, we always seem to cross paths on the way to and from the restrooms as we did on Friday :)

Yes, we too had a lot of down time Friday and headed for the casino, we were done playing our 2nd seeding game at about 10:15AM with 24 hours to kill.

I will say the GPS route showed us " A LOT OF CORN"

17Black, we are also a state with a lot of racing. There are dirt and asphalt tracks everywhere mostly on Fridays and Saturdays. There is also some drag racing. My belated Coachie and I went a lot because we were here. We are the Racing Capital of the World. I guess there was horse racing at the track at the casino as well. Hope that your guys didn't give them too much money.

I'm just glad we can still play and I really appreciate all the effort put out just to make it possible for us to play. There are too many people out there that think they should be treated like kings as if they were stars on an MLB team.

I want to make a positive comment that the umpires were great, especially the father son duo we had at Dunn. I hope all the whining doesn't discourage them from continuing to participate. But the 7 games we played were all well umped, we made more mistakes than the umps did.

Here are the issues we would like to see addressed for the Columbus, IN tournament

1. I do agree that Dunn fields were worse than Cane Ridge in Nashville, and almost as bad as Cincinnati. If those fields are our only option, we will sit it out next year. I'll spare you the description because I think you know.

2. The brackets also were not properly thought out. We had to win our third game, one in the winners and two in the losers, to get to a team that lost their first game in the winners and won one in the losers. So in bracket play we were 3-1 and had to play at 8am on Sunday to get to a team who was 1-1 at 9:30. Winning our first game hurt us. I love the 3GG in bracket play but you need to make the O-2 teams play each other and eliminate the loser of that game.

3. Too many teams were brought back for Sunday. If you started the day on Sunday in the losers bracket, you would have to win 6 games in a row in 97 degree heat to go all the way. I saw a team do it but it's not ideal. Makes for a long drawn out weekend with a lot of down time only to be compressed at the end.

4. The gold dot ball is really bad when it heats up with any humidity. Makes the outfielders look really good and who needs that? If you want evidence look at the run totals.

Overall, it's the 5th time I've played that one and I've enjoyed all of them. Thanks for all you to do allow us to continue to stay young at least in our hearts and minds.
