May 25, 2022 CaliBraves Men's 40 18 posts | Player Ratings Scenario: I already know the answer to this but being told something different and know that Mr. Dowell will be able to clear up the confusion. If a player is playing on a 50's Major team and is labeled as a Major Player, then decides to play on a 40's Major team in the same year, does this automatically make him 50's Major Plus because he is on a 40's Major Roster? |
May 25, 2022 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | In most cases, YES ... If you are filling in on a one-time basis because that 40's team has a case of the "roster shorts", we will generally let that slide on a one-time exception basis ... However, if you are going to play regularly for both teams, you will carry the 40-Major rating index, which you accurately matched up to 50-Major+ ... You can still play for the 50-Major team, but only as one of that team's three allowable out of rating guys ... Please call Sacramento at (916) 326.5303 and ask for a ratings eligibility person and they can walk you through it and answer any other questions you may have ... Good luck! |
May 25, 2022 CaliBraves Men's 40 18 posts | David, Here is what I found in the rules and says that you can only play in the same or equivalent skill level when playing two age levels. I've reached out to Sacramento. 4.2(6) • PLAYING IN TWO AGE DIVISIONS A player may play in two age divisions under the following conditions: A. Player is playing in two separate age divisions. EXAMPLE: One team is in the 55+ division and the other is in the 60+ division; AND B. A player can only play on a team in the same or equivalent skill level when playing in two age divisions. EXAMPLE: A player on a 55-Major division team cannot play on a 50-AA division team unless the 50-AA team has an approved “out-of-rating” roster exemption available. 4.2(7) • MAJOR-PLUS PLAYER RESTRICTION Major-Plus players may only play on Major-Plus or Major teams in their same age group. Players who have no Major or Major-Plus team in their region OR players who are determined not to be Major-Plus caliber by SSUSA may request an exemption in writing. |
May 25, 2022 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | CaliBraves ... Don't over complicate this ... You can play across two age groups in equivalent ratings ... 40-Major (R/I=9) is the same as 50-Major+ (R/I=9) ... 50-Major has an RE/I=8, down one click from the other two ... That's why I made the reference to possibly being one of the three allowed "out of rating" players ... I still encourage you to call it in and talk with someone ... That will be an easily understood conversation, far better than us typing back and forth ... Good luck! |
July 17, 2022 rfireman44 3 posts | if a player is rated 60 major and his team is not playing in a tournament that weekend can he play with a 60 AAA team that is playing |
July 17, 2022 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | Yes he can ... IF he gets a release from his 60-Major team (or arranges with the SSUSA Home Office for a "one time exception" BEFORE the event) ... If he gets the release, but not the exception, he MAY NOT return to the 60-Major team for the balance of the current season ... If he just shows up and plays without doing either of the allowable options, the 60-AAA team could be disqualified from the event and both he and the team may face other sanctions ... Call Sacramento to be safe ... |
