Rock no longer to be used in SSUSA tournaments
SSUSA: I was told that the Trump Stote Rock 44/375 rated ball will no longer be used in any SSSUSA tournaments. I believe it was used mainly at Worlds. If they can no longer be used, could you please explain the rationale behind this decision? Supply issue? Other? Thank you.

Bruce M ... Your initial statement is generally accurate ... "The Rock" may be used in events run by independent Tournament Directors, at their discretion ... But for events administered directly by the SSSUA Home Office, the BSN STOTE/Trump 44 cor./375 comp. Microcell™ Technology ball will be the SSUSA's Official Softball ... Reasons for this minor change affecting just the two Las Vegas events include:

• Consistency in making the Official Softball the same for all events administered by the SSUSA, and more important, making it consistent for the World Championships ...
• Supply-side issues ...
• Significant favorable pricing/economic impact ...

We will maintain inventory availability for teams or leagues that may wish to purchase The Rock in moderate quantities ...

"The Rock" ball was used in only two SSUSA administered events annually, at the SSUSA Southwest and World Championships in Las Vegas ... The contractual obligation to do so expired with the termination of the former joint promotion agreement governing those events through 2019 ...

All other SSUSA events had the STOTE/Trump ball as the stated Official softball .. Supply side difficulties in 2021 caused some disruptions that resulted in occasional random other balls being substituted for use ... Hopefully, those global shipping/receiving issues are a thing of the past ...
