Bumped up teams
Is there a list somewhere of teams that were bumped up mid-season like there is at the beginning of the season?

Jeff50 ... There's not a specific list like you describe, but that information is easily available ... From the "RATINGS" page, select any age group and sort that list by "Updated" ... That will show you all rating changes in reverse-chronological order (from most recent change date) by team ... All of the column headers sort the list on the relevant title of the column ... Good luck! ...

Thank you - that was awesome, but I have a follow up question.

The team who won the Western Nationals in 50 major was moved up a class on August 5th. Who will be representing the West in the USA championship game?

The 50-Major Runner-up is entered in the World's and will represent the West ... That team is the G.O. Softball Junkies/WEPNZ/DSS ... They are from the metro Sacramento area (Antelope, CA)

Wow! That's pathetic. Why would you allow a team that didn't earn anything play in that game? Granted they played all day to get to the championship which was an accomplishment, but the team they lost to was also Major when the game was played.

Se11out ... It's usually a good idea to know at least something about the topic before you launch an ill-informed "anonymous keyboard courage" rant ... You can avoid further embarrassing yourself by just doing something as simple as spending 30 seconds or so reading the appropriate precisely on point SSUSA Rulebook provision ... This structure for defining National Championship game participation has only been in the Rulebook for about 18 years ... We even put the topic in the Table of Contents to make it easy for you to find! ...
__________

SSUSA Rulebook §13.4(2) • U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Teams winning their divisions in the Eastern Nationals will be the "Eastern National Champions" and teams winning the Western Nationals will be the "Western National Champions." Winners will be invited to compete for the U.S. National Championships. If a team winning an Eastern or Western National Championships declines to participate, the second-place team will be invited.

Dave you may want to be a little more professional since you work for SSUSA staff. If a player talked to a SSUSA staff member like that there would be a problem or the post would get deleted.

So reading the rules you posted is says"Declines""
The major team that got bumped up did not decline. So according to the rules they should be able to play, right?

Nice try Dave. SSUSA is the only one that should be embarrassed. I’m pretty sure my team didn’t decline to participate. Are you telling me that you don’t know that I play on the team that was wrongfully bumped?

Don't get too foolishly out front of yourselves here, fellas! ... There's an excellent plan in the works that will allow ALL of the teams that were moved up in rating to play for a National Championship if they go to Las Vegas ... You'll have a chance to decline that opportunity to play later if that's what you want to do ... But I suspect you'd probably rather play and benefit from the guarantee that comes with it for an enhanced seeding position if you do ... We're going to give you the choice, but this confrontational approach is almost funny in the context of none of you even knowing the choice you will have ... Be patient and it will be rewarded ... It's also a good idea to chill on the attitude, too ... I've taken the time thus far to respond, but that could change to "message-kill" mode very easily ... Your call ...

Dave once again, why did you use fellas? I was not rude or disrespectful. In fact on the previous post I Stated I like the empires and staff at SSUSA. I am not being confrontational. Maybe everyone just needs to not be so defensive and just communicate. That is problem with this world. Dave I do appreciate you actually responding, I am sure you have a thankless job. I look forward hearing what is proposed. Have a great weekend.

djwarren ... I used "fellas" because I'm presuming you're all guys ... No other intended connotation at all, and that's the first I've ever hear that word referred to as being offensive ... A couple here have been unacceptably confrontational and rude ... You don't have to look too far to figure out which two if you pull yourself out of the threesome! ... I know who you are, because we only have one registered player with your last name in your stated community ... And I could easily ID the others, but I simply won't waste my time on them if they want to play "Ready ... Fire ... Aim ... OOOPPPPS!" ... They haven't a clue what options they are going to have, but insulting the ONE person who is responsible for designing the circumstance that puts them ALL into Championship games is an ignorant approach ... Thanks for taking the civil approach ... Maybe it'll be contagious ...

I have no issue with bumping teams but it should be after the season. If a team is legit at the beginning of the season they shouldn’t be punished for playing well. If they beat up on everyone in their legit age class then it is what it is.
Bill, did Freehold get bumped from Major 50 to Plus?

No we got bumped from 50 AAA to Major. Totally disagree with the bump. They said tournament Directors watched us play. Not one time did a tournament director watch a game. My email said “ Recommendations from key Evaluators and several Managers. Listening to several managers is what I have a problem with.. Played 10 total games and got bumped . One was a 6 Team Tournament in Va Beach. The other was a rained shortened Eastern National.

Not my intent to intrude on this but are the East and West nationals now "move up" Tournaments ? or were these move ups already imminent due to other criteria.

"automatic move" championships in a bracket of more than five teams ... Those three tournaments are ...

1. The LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters in Las Vegas;
2. The SPA World Championships in Dalton, GA; and
3. The ISA Senior World Series in Columbus, IN

Quick factual clarifications ... Then I'm heading back in the cave to write the upcoming World's 2,100± game schedule ...
• rmp0012002 & titanhd - Their move was, as Mr. Marter stated, from 50-AAA to 50-Major and was a discretionary "performance based move" ... The three events titanhd mentions are actually out of date ... SSUSA hasn't automatically moved teams winning either the SPA or ISA championship events for at least a decade ... For the past few years, we have moved up the top 10% of teams in each bracket from the World's in Las Vegas ...
• BMF - I have no intent to "pick at nits", but you've made one significant factual mistake and have omitted key information from the SSUSA's subjective analysis of your team ... The error: Three SSUSA National Tournament Directors watched all or part of at least four of your five games played in Loudoun County ... I am one of them and observed your team on each of the three days, including both games Friday, your first game Saturday and the resumed Championship game on Sunday at Bolen Park ... You have a very powerful and impressive team, to be admired ... The omissions: You won all five games you played by nearly "Run Rule" margins of +12, +16, +12, +14 and +12 runs (avg. of +13.2 runs per game) ... Your team played all but 4 innings of the Championship game at Brambleton Park, with 370' CF fence distances, and your team hit 13 out of the park HR's ... The other 23 teams that played there, nine 50-Major and 14 50-AAA, hit a tournament total of 10 HR's out ...

Lastly, my post-event Director's report did not make any mention of your, or any other team, by either inference or name ... I didn't have to ... The performance data spoke up in your case ...

Dave,
I am not disagreeing with the data. Homers are part of the game. Maybe is was a disadvantage toward the other teams playing in a park that big. Some teams may have tried to flex there muscles . As far as run differential maybe the others team were trying to hard for the homers. I think we avg 20 runs per game. IMO That’s what it takes to win in AAA 22-28 in Majors. The move iis what it is just think we should be able to finish the season out in AAA. Now if we happen to win Worlds or finish in top 10 pct. My team would go from AAA to Major plus in two months. BTW I have no hard feelings towards anyone at SSUSA. I would of like to have a full season at Majors . Could of made some adjustments to my roster.. (before you bring out data our defense kept the other teams runs low).

I will move on from this point.
Best of Luck to you and your Staff!
See you in Las Vegas!

Bill ... Fair enough ... I'm not sure I would buy into ratings sticking for "..the entire season..", but it's impossible in my view to make a straight-faced argument that the timing of these moves was anything less than a failure ... In the four current instances (the fourth team has handled their presentation out of the public eye), we believe the changes are not debatable ... The timing is another story ... I thought you were the best team playing at Brambleton Park, Major or AAA, and nothing has changed my opinion ... Good luck the rest of the way ...
