Suncoast Melee Diamond 2021 End load-opinions
Love Suncoast. Going to buy either a 2 piece 2021 Diamond end load or one piece Balanced. Which one will give the most distance. Have the 2017 Melee single, love it but never had a two piece Melee. Opinions? Thanks as always.

im - if you are used to swinging a 1 pc (Melee2), then go with the 1pc Melee3 that is just coming out but the new Balanced is not a bad option as it is also a 1pc (2 pc will have more flex in the handle, not a bad bat at all, I prefer a 1 pc myself and have been waiting for the Melee3).

And most will tell you that EL(endloaded) will USUSALLY hit it a "little" further than a balanced coming through the zone with a little mass behind it, esp for older guys (60 and above). Hope this helps.

I have both and if you like the 2017 Melee 2 then the Melee 3 is the bat for you. The new bat swings very similar to the 2017 one piece model. I like the Black Diamond but it swings just a bit lighter than the Melee 3. This is comparing the 27oz Melee 3 to the 27.5oz black diamond.

My opinions only.

Does the 2021 Melee Diamond have a 1/2 oz end load or 3/4 oz end load? Thanks

Does the 2021 Melee 3 12 inch End Load have a 1/2 oz end load or 3/4 end load? I've heard it advertised both ways so I'm a little confused. Thanks

If I was changing bats from the old Dudley black bat with yellow writing (balanced one piece), which Suncoast bat should I look at buying?

I was that guy. I needed to know 1/2, 3/4 ounce, full ounce end load or not. Wow, THIS bat must be the GOAT because of its HUGE endload!? Right? Then I thought...yeah...but what does that really, truly mean?...and how can you verify it for yourself. Dave Valasquez's video helped me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLQSQTZaGh0 He explains that even within the same bat, different weights can change the ratio of handle weight to end weight. I don't know how the manufacturers actually plan the weights of their endloads through their line of 26,27,28,29,30 ounce version. It's not just as easy as weighting the end cap. If you kept every other part of the bat the same and simply added weight to the end cap, the higher weight versions would be literal sledge hammers. Once you add or subtract weight from any version, you would have to pay close attention to the ratios from the handle weight to the end weight. If anyone has a way to measure just the end load accurately, please let me know. DV's way of weighing bats makes sense to me.

This one Allan: https://suncoastsoftball.com/product/suncoast-melee3-senior-softball-bat-1-piece-13-inch-barrel-balanced/

The new Suncoast 1 piece Balanced has "Melee3" in red on barrel, 13" EL has "Melee3" in White and 12" EL "Melee3" is Blue. The EL on both are only 1/2 oz.

And you can get a 3/4 oz EL on the new Reloaded 12" 1 piece (different color altogether).

I agree Bruce, I like Dave's way as well and follow that method. I actually like to take bp and hit off a tee with a 12" THINKING if I can learn how to focus on hitting with a smaller barrel then I should KILL with a larger barrel, sadly that doesn't always work (probably it's the THINKING part!) LOL

Thanks for the info Bruce M and mck71. I purchased a few of the last Dudley BK/Y balanced bats a few years ago and I have one left, so I need to find the best substitute. Your info will help me decide. And, mck71, the thinking always gets me.

@Rusty. The melee reloaded 1 piece is the 12" 3/4oz endload. The diamond and melee 3 are 1/2 oz.

Let me know if you need more info

I also appreciate the additional info shortstopchic10. Made the decision to purchase the Melee3 12" 1 piece after swinging it at last tournament. Am now trying to find a good price on one. Thanks again.
