Upcoming St George Tournament Schedule 55+ AAA
A couple questions.

1) What softball are we using up there at the Fields at Little Valley? I heard due to homeowners complaining we have to use restricted flight balls?

2) Are al the games at Little Valley? The elimination bracket has Wednesday and Thursday at te Canyons listed, I am assuming the Weds/Thurs was a typo but are all the games for the 55AAA at Little Valley?

Thanks!

Wood ... I made a pretty comprehensive mess out of that one! ...

[1] For the games at The Fields at Little Valley, you will be using (and we will be providing) a restricted flight softball ... The most "sensitive" neighbors are outside of Fields #2 and #3, so we have scheduled as many of the 50/55-AA teams' games on those fields as we can because those games will be played under the 1-HR allowable limit ... All four fields will use the restricted flight softballs, as was done at Little Valley during last Season's Western National's and SSUSA World Championships in St. George ...
[2] ALL 55-Silver games on Friday and Saturday are at Little Valley ... Teams that make it to Sunday will play (with the standard STOTE softball) at The Canyons ...

Good luck everyone!

Well, this weekend sucked! Hitting those grapefruits instead of the standard senior softball, while paying just as much as the teams that got to play at the Canyons did made for a horrible weekend. The balls were mush after about 4 innings, and if even a little breeze was blowing they would float like a wiffle ball on anything hit in the air. I know we will never play in a tournament if we have to hit those again, and in talking with a lot of other plyers on other teams, the feeling was mutual.

How about SSUSA puts some other ages/divisions out there instead of punishing the same age groups/divisions each tournament?

Wood, we were there last weekend as well and also last year for the Worlds using the same ball. From my understanding, it is not SSUSA telling us that we have to use this ball, its coming from the local authorities telling SSUSA that we cannot hit those balls due to the complaints from the residents that live in the houses that are being pelted from the balls.

While the ball isnt very good, Little Valley fields are great and both teams are using the same ball so at least its fair. Id play there again at the next chance, it sure beats no ball at all like we have in Cali.

The field use permit for this facility from the City of St. George required us to schedule the lowest rated and oldest age groups there and to use restricted flight softballs ... In the recently concluded session, that was the 55+ AAA and 50/55-AA ... We did everything that was demanded of us, with one exception ... We failed to advise teams that went to the facility on Thursday and/or before their first games on Friday or Saturday NOT to take BP using their regular STOTE or The Rock softballs ... Those softballs raining down on the property of the surrounding homes aggravated the situation ... The principal "noise-maker" who lives in the home outside Field #2 was just looking for an excuse to unload on us to City officials and, unfortunately, we gave her one ... There were very few balls hit her way during actual tournament play ...
