Maintaining our team's rating
I am looking for a little guidance and input here. Our team was recently re-rated to 60 AA. Over the winter a couple of players jumped to another team, one player indicating his plans to retire and a couple of health situations have affected our roster to the point where we find ourselves in need of having to find at least a couple of additional players in order to play in the summer of 2021. I would like to know where we might be able to draw players for our roster without jeopardizing our new rating. For example: 1)can a player from a 65AAA team join us? 2) how about a player from a 65AA team? 3) how about a player from a 55AA team? 4) how about someone who has never played senior softball? Thanks

In the specific order of your inquiries about potential new roster players for your recently re-rated 60-AA team (Rating index = 4) ... NOTE: You may not add any players (for one year) with an R/I above 4

1. 65-AAA = YES (R/I = 4)
2. 65-AA = YES (R/I = 3)
3. 55-AA = NO (R/I = 5)
4. "New" SSUSA player • If under ago 65 = NO • If age 65 or over = YES

D² Since on the subject of ratings...Where can I find the (R/I) you eluded to in your response (i.e. 65AAA = 4, 55AA = 5, etc. etc)? Asked another way, what is a 55M players' rating? And a 60 AAA ? And is this scale linear?

H² ... The entire Rating Index chart (ages 40+ through 85's) is available from the link on the RULES page of this web site ... From the Menu-Bar at the top of each page, hover your cursor over TOURNAMENTS and select RULES from the drop down choices ... The chart is about the fifth or so item down the page ...

Good luck!

Is the index used? I was told that the rating index "created many years ago" isn't used by the Office. Have it in writing actually

Dave. I'll respectfully send the message where it was stated to you under separate cover.

Dave, couldn't Yankee fan add a 60+ player(s), with no history of tournament ball, to their roster as a 60AA player? I think there was a rule change prior to the 2020 season that allowed this player addition.

Papajoe56 ... Yes, I believe he can add one "new" player with no SSUSA history ... I was on the "D/L" for that Rules Committee Session and the chair reminded me of that exception (with which I concur) they carved out ... Thanks for pointing out my error/omission ...
