SHOWS GOING BACK TO VEGAS-FOR BIG ONE U GOT ANY HOTEL DEALS IN THE WORKS
Hey Gary ... SSUSA is absolutely bringing the SENIOR SOFTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS back to Las Vegas again this year ... It will be the usual dates in mid-September through the first week in October ... Hotel contracts are being negotiated currently and will post to the Tourney page of this website shortly ... Everything will be the same as in prior years except that SSUSA is the sole administration entity from now on ... Our former co-promoters withdrew from the arrangement and may be doing other things on other dates ... See you there! ...
"Everything will be the same as in prior years..." Using The Rock Ball?
Yes, that's our intent and the current plan for both the Southwest Championships in April and the SSUSA World Championships in September/October ... We made a significant wholesale purchase commitment to BSN Sports for "The Rock" ball and they have them on hand, so it will be "The Rock" in Las Vegas this Season, and possibly beyond that, depending on how the BSN inventory quantities hold up ...
hey dave does youe computer work just asking
That's hilarious Rickey! ... You are NEVER gonna let me live that one down, are you? ... And I don't deserve to escape it ... Every year at T.O.C. time, you whack me upside the head again as a reminder ... Oh, and get the gate on your way out! ... Ha!
At last, some good news!!
Personally I am pleased that SSUSA will be solely in charge of the "World Series". Our Teams experience with the shared responsibilities for the WS and Southwestern has been disappointing. I am sure that LVSSA is a fine organization, but in all honesty their lack of contribution was lacking in Field Preparations. On numerous occasions the Infields were in bad shape and the outfield grass was not mowed.I personally had to find their staff to Groom the fields. My understanding is that it was their responsibility to secure the Fields and maintained them. So moving on, I am confident that SSUSA will insure the Fields will be properly Groomed and mowed both for safety and fair play.

Thanks Tommy ... There's a lot more to the real circumstances, and that may come out later, if at all ... But from an event administration perspective, the only things our former co-promoters were responsible for were [1] field preparation workers/staffing and [2] providing limited player check-in asssistance at the Director tables on Day #1 of each session (which is not being done now due to the Pandemic situation) ... They were not responsible for ANY other administrative functions, including field lease acquisitions ... Best to you and Martha this year! ... Play and BE safe and have fun! ...
Hello Tomar and Dave,
A few years back there was quite a discussion on this board about the Rock softball, used only in Vegas at that time (I believe). The comments were basically split between those who thought it was too hot (I among that group) and those who liked the way it carried.
In any event, discussion was ended when you noted that part of the agreement with LVSSA was that the Rock would be used in the world tournament to the exclusion of other options. Evidently, that requirement has also ended. So I was disappointed to read that SSUSA will continue to use the Rock in tournaments until the supply is exhausted.
I understand the economics of this decision (my Club has some Baden FireBalls that will be used until gone), but I would prefer seeing the Rocks on hand being used in a tournament plagued by high humidity and played at a lower altitude (and of course with ample warning to tournament teams). Just my opinion.
Their contributions was wanting, but funny how things resolve themselves. I thought it was initially a good move on SSUSA to partner with the Vegas organization, mainly in helping SSUSA to secure enough Fields, to put on The World Masters, "Thee Premier Senior Softball Tournament" in the Country. But now that I understand what their contribution was, clearly this partnerships demise was good for all.
Please pass on our regards to Fran, ( Martha and I miss seeing her). So glad that you are still swinging Hard !
