Nov. 22, 2020 Steeler26 Men's 60 10 posts | run count or not Dave, runners on 1st and 3rd with one out. Batter hits line drive towards right fielder. Runner on 3rd tags but runner on 1st takes off running. Ball is caught by right fielder and throws to first for double play. Runner on 3rd scored before ball was caught by 1st basemen for double play. What is your call on runner from 3rd ? |
Nov. 22, 2020 DaveDowell Men's 70 4313 posts | The run scores on this "timing play" ... Getting put out while returning to tag up is NOT a force play that would negate the run ... It's impossible to be forced out returning to a base ... A force out occurs ONLY when being required ("forced") to advance to the next base ... The play you described is actually a "Live Ball Appeal", which is a "timing play" as it relates to the runner from third base scoring ... |
