Nov. 6, 2020 Wrestler97kg 5 posts | Intentional Walk Q: Does the batter receiving an intentional walk need to officially enter the batters box and then receive the intentional walk? Or can the opposing team knowing they will intentionally walk the next batter, simply wave the batter to first base from the dugout or batters on deck circle? |
Nov. 6, 2020 B.J. 1105 posts | no the batter does not have to enter the batters box before being intentionally walked ... what the umpire must be aware of is not to allow the defense to intentionally walk 2 batters at the same time.. the umpire should wait for the player of the 1st intentional walk to reach 1st base before allowing the 2nd |

Nov. 7, 2020 Don5 Men's 75 69 posts | The defensive may request that the next two runners be walked, if done at the same time, the first batter can go directly to second base without touching first base. This happened during our Masters Championship game in St George. Correct ruling was clarified by The UIC Tom Bussey. Don Angle Animals |
Nov. 7, 2020 B.J. 1105 posts | Don5 that's incorrect ... Is the reason the UIC allowed that to happen because during a game the umpire mistakenly allowed it to happen and the offense should not be penalized for the umpires mistake... if he stated that to be the rule he was wrong.. unless it was stipulated beforehand as a SPECIAL tournamnet rule below is the SSUSA rule stating that 2 intentional walks at the same time are not allowed 8.2 • BATTER BECOMES A BATTER-RUNNER e. If two batters are to be walked intentionally, the second intentional walk may not be administered until the first batter reaches first base. NOTE: If the umpire mistakenly allows two walks at one time and the first batter fails to touch first base, no appeal will be honored on the first batter, because an intentional walk constitutes a pitch to the succeeding batter that nullifies any appeal |
