UPDATE & STATEMENT ON WMC 50+ AGE DIVISIONS
Las Vegas area municipalities that own and run the softball complexes have informed us that they cannot confirm the fields will be open for tournament play by October 1-4 for Session #4 of the LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters Championships.

Therefore, the fourth session of the World Masters Championships, featuring all 50+ men’s and women’s divisions, will be moved to the Phoenix area at the end of October:
Oct. 30 – Nov. 1: Men’s 50-Major-Plus, Men’s 50-AA and all 50+ Women’s Divisions.
Oct. 29-Nov. 1: Men’s 50-Major and 50-AAA

New Deadline for Entry: Oct. 8th

We deeply apologize for the major inconvenience this will cause 50+ teams. We will be calling each 50's team manager next week to confirm that the team will be able to compete in Phoenix on the new dates. Teams that cannot or choose not to come are eligible to get a full refund.

For the past several weeks, SSUSA and LVSSA have been working diligently with the Las Vegas municipalities to try to get permission from the Nevada governor’s office and the Nevada Attorney General to play the Oct. 1-4 session of the World Masters. The phase-to-open orders in Nevada, like many states, are based on a formula of the number and percentage of COVID-19 cases in each area throughout the state. At this stage in Las Vegas, tournaments are not allowed at least through the end of September. We – and the municipalities running the fields – had hoped there would be enough of a change in the COVID-19 cases in the Las Vegas area to allow tournaments to resume by the Oct. 1-4 session of the World Masters Championships. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

We will be sending out more information next week. Again, we deeply apologize for this change.

Here's the current plan ... And ALL of this is subject to some change as we see what the level of team retention is with this revision ... There were 140 teams entered as of Friday afternoon (09/04/2020) ... The usual City of Phoenix facilities we have used historically are closed, with no firm estimate of a re-opening date, as of today ...

VICTORY LANE - Glendale
• Men's 50-MAJOR+ (9 Teams)
• Men's 50-AA (7)
• Women's 50-MAJOR (6)
• Women's 50-AAA (7)

EASTMARK, RED MOUNTAIN & SKYLINE COMPLEXES - Mesa
• Men's 50-MAJOR (50)
• Men's 50-AAA (61)

CHANGE IN TENTATIVE FIELD ASSIGNMENTS FOR WMC SESSION #4 • Much to our recent surprise, the City of Mesa significantly reduced the number of available game slots on Thursday, Friday and Sunday ... We were originally allocated (on 08/21/20) game times that would have allowed us to play until 5:00 PM on those days, then we were reduced to having to be concluded by 4:00 PM ... That cost us 12 game slots each of those three days ... Then we were notified late last week that the actual "vacate" time is now 3:00 PM ... That cost us another 12 game slots per day and forced us to relocate Divisions ...

To solve the shortfall, we added Papago Park in Phoenix for Thursday and Friday (but not available on the weekend) for the 50-Major's ... We also added Victory Lane beginning Thursday (instead of Friday) ... That allowed us to move the 50-AAA to Victory Lane as the only facility that could handle the 50 seeding games and the 115-game bracket in that division, completely filling that venue all four days ... That required moving the 50-Major Plus, 50-AA and Senior Women's 50+ divisions to Mesa ... So here are the revised Field Assignments for Session #4 ...

50-Major-Plus • Skyline (Mesa) Fri. & Sat. / Eastmark (Mesa) Sun.
50-Major • Eastmark (Mesa) Thur. thru Sun. / Papago (Phoenix) Thur. & Fri. / Skyline (Mesa) Sat.
50-AAA • Victory Lane (Glendale) Thur. thru Sun.
50-AA • Papago (Phoenix) Fri. / Eastmark (Mesa) Sat. / Skyline (Mesa) Sun.
50+ Women Major • Skyline (Mesa) Fri. thru Sun.
50+ Women AAA • Skyline (Mesa) Fri. and Sun. / Eastmark (Mesa) Sat.

DRAFT Game Schedule and Brackets have been prepared and are currently in the final technical review process ... They should be available here by the end of the week ... We apologize for any inconveniences despite the fact they were completely outside of our causation or control ... Good luck everyone ... Play SAFE and have fun ...
