rule 8.1, touching bases in order
When a runner passes 2nd base and has to return to first and returns without retouching 2nd base, at what point is the runner called out ?????

Bill,

The best way to make an appeal is wait until the umpire has called time and verbally appeal to the umpire that runner missed 2nd base on the way back to 1b.

Make sure you do it before a pitch to the next batter. If you don't, you lose your right to a proper appeal.

Couldn't tell you the right terminology, but I know appeal is the first definition in Rule 1 section 1.1.

You can do a live ball appeal, but the dead ball is so much simpler.
