EVENT UPDATE • Rocky Mountain Championships 2020 Cancelled
Speaking of rumor control ... SSUSA was advised very early this morning that the City of Aurora (CO) has eliminated all events from being held at the Aurora Sports Park through at least the end of August ... Accordingly, the 2020 Rocky Mountain Championships have been cancelled ... Their corespondence also indicated it is highly unlikely that ANY sporting events will be held there through the end of this calendar year ...

Any chance of a re-schedule to another location or is it too late? Thanks

Bob21 ... Your username is likely very prophetic ... When they mentioned it was unlikely there would be any 2020 events at Aurora Sports Park, they DID ask us for our tentative '21 event dates! ... So we're guessing "later" is about 13 months out front from now ... We aren't aware of any available alternative locations at this time ...

Johnny44 ... Unfortunately we do mind on that one ... SSUSA has ONLY FOUR really simple posting rules ... They are like a ½-inch to the right side of the box where you typed your message, so we presume you see them ... One of them prohibits - Promotion for other senior softball organizations ... Thanks in advance for your cooperation ...

Yet many other metro/city complexes in CO are open and running leagues now. Aurora just has the advantage of 12 fields. There are many 4, and even some 6 field complexes in the area, up and down the front range. Too bad a few of those can't be used for various age groups, or do all the age groups need to be at the same complex?

We have games schedules, at the complex, tomorrow, so will see if they are really cancelling all events, or just select ones, like big tournaments.

Just talked to my cousin in Colorado. She says there is expectation/warning of a big retreat on openness as a result of rising COVID 19 cases. It wouldn't surprise her if things shut down for a few months.

Omar, a very prophetic post on your part, another 'shut down for a few months' brings us up to the election. Many say that was the plan all along. More testing equals more cases so it's no surprise that the death rates have now dropped for the 12th straight month. IMOP: we are seeing the feared 2nd wave right now which is much weaker. Playing ball is what we should be doing be it sanctioned or getting together informally. It's amazing the hoops the governments are making the organizations jump through just to hit a ball with a stick, especially when inherently, the participants are spaced yards, not feet from each other.

Colorado Springs would be a great alternative to Aurora. 6 turf fields at Sky View. Just change it to a normal week of games

Correction, 12 straight weeks, not months! Yipes!
