Hopefully the SSUSA office had a wonderful 4th. Is the Team list for the Northwest Championship available? I checked the tournament listing page but have not seen it updated there.
Thanks in advance
Ball4 ... We're hopeful of publishing sometime later today (Monday) ... By not having the Timber Linn Park (Albany, OR) complex this year because of their shutdown, we're over-subscribed by about 10-12 teams and there is a wait-list of those teams ... There are 61 total teams entered (15 in Session #1 65+ and older and 46 in Session #2 60+ and younger), We're calling and confirming attendance with everyone to see if anyone "moves" from wait-list to active-participant ... We're also trying to beg some additional time slots at Wallace-Marine Park on both Friday and Sunday from their local league inventory, too ... Every little sliver of time helps! ... Thanks for your continuing patience ...
THANKS Dave! I expected a full tournament and this confirms my thoughts.
Who are the 15 teams participating in session 1#?
• MEN'S 65-MAJOR
Bulldogs 65's
Goodman Legends 65s
Last Call 65
Oregon Crabs
• MEN'S 65-SILVER
Aro Glass Clubbers
Grey Sox 65
Seattle Merchants
Northwest Silver 65's
Vancouver USA-Wooly's 65's
• MEN'S 70/75-GOLD
Animals 70s
Mr. Plywood
Brunettes
Scrap Iron 5280'
General Equipment
Silver City Brewers 75
Good luck to all. Wish we could go.
Dave, When do you think schedule for Salem will be available? Thanks for all you do for senior ballers.
Michael ... Had the S1 (65+ and more senior) done this afternoon and went to a Dr. appointment ... When I got back, found out there had been a late entry that got hung up in the mail over the long July 4th weekend, so it's "back to the drawing board" ... Will hopefully publish S1 tomorrow (Thursday) with S2 shortly thereafter ... Thanks for your patience in these complex times ...
Dave: don’t know how you all keep all this organized but all ballers are thankful that you do.
Dave - are you going to work late today to get the S1 schedule out? Hope you’re OK. Your last message has been up for a couple days. Just anxious to see how you’re going to figure out the 70/75’s. Us old guys are like that.
Mister T ... Just posted S1 (about 3:30 PM on Friday) ... Good luck and be safe!
Posted???where,posted where?
I found it, it’s “posted” on tournament page. Thank you Dave
David, over this weekend there was talk that a 65 team had to drop out. It’s of course understandable, everyone has to make a different decision in regards to tournaments.
Dave, speaking for my team only. We want innings, period.
We’ll like to win a tournament but mostly we need all the innings we have been forecast under original schedule.
Our team would rather play anybody than take a bye.
Even out of division and the game being practice game only not counting in tournament.
We need innings, maybe you would consider getting us into some kind of game as opposed to making us take a bye if in-fact a team dropped out.
Anyway, thanks for all of our efforts.
Michael ... As of 5:00 PM Saturday when I left the office, I hadn't heard anything about a team withdrawal from the tournament, in either session (No guarantee it hadn't happened, but nobody has so advised us yet) ... In fact, the opposite was true as we added a team late in the game in the 75+ division mid-week ... We are at total capacity in Session #2, having to turn away some teams and there's exactly ONE open game slot, at 9:00 PM Saturday night on Field #4 ... Good luck, play safely, have fun and pay no attention to that funny looking guy over there in the corner wearing the silly hat that says "Rumors • 5¢" ...
Well, Michael, the rumor mill was unfortunately correct this time ... A manager in your 65+ division left an email on Sunday afternoon in an unattended on the weekend inbox and that apparently counts as timely notification of withdrawal ... Reminds me a bit of a discussion I have occasionally with my sons ... Me: "Did you contact your brother?" ... Son #1: "I sent him an email" ... Me: "That wasn't the question ... Did you CONTACT your brother?" ... I actually found out at 5:15 AM this morning, about 15 minutes after the local Directors departed by auto for Salem with all of the tournament paperwork, bracket board and team sets and related items, most of which now has to be re-printed on the fly later today/tonight in Salem for the 65+ Division ... The good news is the electronic changes have been made and are posted online ... Have fun, play safely and good luck ...
Don’t know now you do it - just glad u do.
Dave: just saw revised Salem schedule. Really appreciate that Tuesday times don’t change as ballers have all made travel plans based on Tuesday game times. We are pleased with all the changes considering the “notice” you received. I’m sure all NW 65’s ballers appreciate your efforts.
ARO Glass is the team that dropped out. This is the first time in 18 years that they have dropped out of a tournament. As manager of the team I am the one that sent 2 emails to SSUSA to an unattended inbox. I recent attempts to call the office last week on a different matter I reached a recording so I thought the best option was to email. There was no way for me to know that it was an unattended email.
ARO Glass has been around along time and appreciate all that SSUSA does for our generation. Especially note worthy is the efforts of Dave, Fran and Terry. With that being said I want to apologize to SSUSA and to the teams in our bracket for this late notice. Some members on our team have family members with underling health conditions. They were concerned about contacting COVID 19. Another player was advised by his doctor not to play after having a stroke and heart attack. Sometimes the right decision isn't the popular decision and for that I don't need to apologize. The health and safety of all my brothers on my team is what matters.
Everyone stay safe and follow the rules and have fun.
No worries John ... Hindsight is 20-20, so it's always easy after the fact to say maybe posting your withdrawal here initially would have been preferable instead of a generic email, but that's not what happened and it really doesn't change things or matter ... Aro Glass has always been, in my view, an ideal "franchise" for a long time and we don't expect that to change ... This one was just an accidental perfect storm of missed timing and missed notice ... We'll get it fixed by tomorrow (we always do!) ... Keep your guys healthy an we'll hopefully see them next time! ... Best regards ... DAVE
I also want to say mahalo to you n the SSUSA staff. You even treat us Island Boyz well!! Aloha, Fabe
Dave,
Games in Salem were excellently scheduled, thanks.
Question, I heard SSUSA was waiving the need for players to play in a qualifier this year? Anyone on roster can play in Vegas even if they didn’t play in a qualifier.
Is that the case?
I don't know Michael ... That doesn't mean it's not happening, just that I'm not up to speed on it ... Since it's over my pay grade, I suggest you call the Sacramento Home Office at (916) 326.5303 on a weekday morning and ask for Anthony ... He's the eligibility guy and I'm just a schedule geek ... Since I "virtually left" Salem really early Thursday morning after transmitting a bunch of Version #97 Northwest schedule sets, I stopped in Columbus, IN to write the ISA Senior World Series schedules that were posted a couple hours ago and I've just virtually arrived in Loudoun County, VA to begin writing the Eastern National's Session #1 this afternoon ... Good luck! ...
