SoCal State Championships
Let's start with the positives : Great facility, albeit Summertime was not good with the heat. This would be an excellent facility for November thru March possibility :) Now the negatives which might be a little long. What has happened to SSUSA running tournaments as this weekend had a few issues. First the heat was an issue playing in the middle of the day with no nighttime playing when in fact there are lights there. Second was scheduling issues. Why a 4 team bracket needs to play 3 days is beyond me and should not have been dragged out for 3 days. Round Robin games scheduled over 2 days, WHY ???? Third was the umpiring crew. Boy I don't know where to start with this. Simply awful, lack of knowledge on the rules and the wasted time between innings spent trying to keep track of scoreboard was ridiculous. One ump told my team this was a teaching tournament because we have not played in so long and to get us to understand the rules again, REALLY. Too many issues where Tournament Directors had to waste time getting things straightened out. Again just my opinion so I understand if there's a difference of opinions as expected.
