Discussion: 2021 TOC

Browsing the 2020 SSUSA tournament schedule and noticed that the TOC(2020 roster event) is scheduled for January 21-24. Why the move from the traditional February dates? January is historically the coldest month in Florida----in fact I played in the ISSA Worlds in Tampa this past January and it was brutally cold---highs in the high 50's and lows in the 30"s(the 2nd day the low was 31 degrees in Tampa and they moved our games from 8:00 to 9:30 when it was a "balmy" 37). We(Windsor Chiefs, Ontario Canada) have played 4 or 5 times in the TOC and guys look forward to leaving the Canadian cold for the Florida sunshine. I am not sure that a January date would be appealing(assuming that this pesky virus settles down and gives us the opportunity to try and qualify at a TOC qualifier event--usually Northern Championships in Lansing.
Traditional dates fall on Super Bowl weekend in 2021, which is also being played in Tampa. Hotel and airfare for the weekend will be very, very high. Moving back a weekend results in a Valentine's Day tournament. SSUSA did that before and took a good bit of heat for it.
Just announced that Canada-U.S. border will remain closed until at least July 21. Thus Canadian teams will not be able to play in Syracuse(Brantford Nissan 65 AAA) have qualified there in 2018 and 2019 and then went on to win TOC twice. My team(Windsor Chiefs) always goes to Lansing in August--will be impossible to plan to play this year due to unknown future border situation.
