Since you live in Reno, do you know something we don't about the reopening of Reno?

I have a great connection in Sparks and was told Golden Eagle more than likely won't open until July, It will be part of Phase 3. This is what I was told from a reliable source. I honestly don't see any softball until July or even August depending what State you are in. I am in Northern California and run events for an organization so I have had some communication with the parks I deal with. Yes we all want to get back to playing but its not as simple as that. Precautions need to be put in place and provided to all teams for them to either jump on board or decide against it.

Taking the benches out of the dugouts! Taking down the grandstands! Bring you own chair and stay spread out! What the h___ has gotten into people?

Definitely too soon to be playing especially removing bleachers and benches I know for sure no games will be at Golden Eagle. So think of the other fields and how they are kept up. I can't make it due to not being able to get the Friday off. But not to heartbroken about it. Sorry just not feeling the softball vibe right now.

This is getting beyond bizarre in Reno...benches and grandstands are yet another concern. Who actually sits down and thinks about such things? Do they understand that most of us will be going through airports, traveling on planes, renting cars and staying in hotels or possibly casino's? Yet benches and grandstands are the issue. This is insane!

I'm looking forward to playing ball and hope this Reno tournament is a go. We should be free to make our own decisions.

CURVEBALL, I'd be happy to tell you "what's gotten into people". Politically driven largely baseless panic whipped up and fomented by an all too eager media that is largely politically compromised itself. Here in Michigan our governor sued a 77 year old barber in Owasso, MI because he defied her order to stay closed. The governor lost in court so the very next day, without so much as a hearing she and her like mined attorney general had his license revoked. THIS is what it's come down to.

OZ, as a born and raised former Michigander, I hope to God you guys vote that dictator out of power next time she is up for reelection! She is giving my home state a bad name, and worse, destroying that states recovery over the last few years!!

That being said, I am still struggling with those that want these tournaments cancelled because they are afraid or unwilling to attend. That is YOUR personal choice, please allow the rest of us to make that same personal choice and decide whether we want to attend or not! Despite all the efforts of the democratic governors in this country, we are still free to make our own decisions! I will attend if we play, if that means bringing a chair then that is what I will do!

Well we've 'flattened the curve' as instructed to do, the rest is politics. I'll go out on limb here, it was never about flattening the curve as much as it's been stringing this whole fiasco along until election day in November. Michigan's governor is auditioning to be Biden's VP pick and she's using the State's citizens and her ham-handed tactics as her resume. I firmly believe that Americans are having the normality of their lives uprooted, their jobs, lifesavings/retirements and family security jeopardized, and their social connections and friendships severed all for the sake of politics and power.

Wood and Oz, totally agree with you; we have a dictatorship in WA state too, sad that politics drives their “Rules”.

Hoping we hear on Monday that 60+ is on in Reno, I’ll come no matter what the rules needed to play, it’s all temporary anyway.

That is correct, all about politics, red vs blue! The dictators in Washington (state), Michigan, Oregon, and California need to go. I have heard they are playing games in Arizona, Florida and Georgia.

Dictators hmmm. A few decades ago I lived in a country run by a Dictator. I haven't heard of any complainers "disappearing", so I'm guessing Newsom, Whitmer, and Inslee must not have taken Dictatorship 101.
If you Washington guys were in charge how would you prevent the virus from spreading to Grays Harbor county?
If you Michiganders were in charge how would you protect Charlevoix and Antrim counties?

Pretty disappointing now we have to see politics on this site.
We are all wanting to play, and I will do what I need to do to protect myself and my teammates. I will also RESPECT what SSUSA has put into place to getting us back on the field.
And just so you know we are not playing ball in AZ yet.
Looking forward to Reno! So lets be safe, respect others & have FUN!

The 'complainers' would have been the dead seniors in Michigan's nursing and senior homes that got sick and died when our governor instituted the wrong policy of sending Chinese virus patients to their buildings. It's hard to complain from the coffin. Maybe others (friends & families)are complaining on their behalf. You can talk about protection all you want, how about the peripheral damage to this fiasco? The increases in opioid abuse, domestic violence, depression/suicide, lost homes and businesses, destruction of savings and investments, deaths and increased severity of illnesses or beginnings of severe illnesses not being diagnosed in the early stages due to medical closings. In Michigan over 300 dentists have signed onto a letter begging the governor to allow them to re-open. Quite simply, if you are looking for 24/7/365 protection it will never happen. There has never been a societal framework that could accomplish that task. I too am disappointed that politics has come to this site but the current state of affairs is effecting the normal function of this site too. You cannot talk about a rash without discussing the cause.

As Ben Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

They Say You Can’t Fix Stupid Turns Out You Can’t Quarantine It Either!

"Using the label "Chinese Virus" will further inflame racial tensions in America. And it has nothing to do with public health, as experts have warned that relegating the disease to a geographic identity will actually hinder our efforts to contain it."

On March 10th "The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday that attaching Chinese to a description of the coronavirus was wrong after both President Trump and the top House Republican were accused of racism for labeling it.
“It’s absolutely wrong and inappropriate to call this the Chinese coronavirus, I assume you would agree with that,” Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) said to CDC chief Robert Redfield, who testified in the House on Tuesday morning.
Redfield said “yes,” noting the virus is also widespread in South Korea, Iran and Italy."

Stifling speech does no good either. I suppose the Chinese virus started in Poland, eh? If you're in search of PC culture try a safe room on an ivy league campus.

Joey, I'm a little further right on PC, I put the "F" bomb in front of Chinese Virus. Unsure of motive (if any), but extremely confident it came from a lab in China; AND, extremely confident the Chinese Govt. did their best to cover up, now the world has paid the price.

As far as racial tensions in America, only a fool would blame the Chinese as a race. This is a Chinese Govt. issue. Do you think they didn't know what was happening and what could happen? The Chinese Govt. deserves every negative that is thrown at them for the role they played in this pandemic. How could they let the world become infected? I disagree with you Joey and Lois Frankel on calling this the Chinese coronavirus wrong and inappropriate, it is what it is.
I use the term illegal alien also if you didn't come into our republic thru legal immigration process, what do you suppose Lois Frankel would think of that?

One of many things SSUSA is very careful about in our business is to preserve and protect our tax-exempt status under IRC §501(c)(4) ... That means refraining from taking public positions on political matters, or hosting a forum for others to do so ... We have closed this thread and respectfully request that you debate such issues in other venues outside of this website ... Thank you ...
