April 2, 2020 HAT MAN Men's 50 228 posts | Reno Where is the best place to stay in Reno for rock n Reno event? Especially if you have never been there before Vinny |
April 3, 2020 SSUSA Staff 3466 posts | HAT MAN ... Take a look on the event Tournament Page for the listing of the HQ and Host Hotels ... We recommend any of those properties ... Some teams have, historically, rented private residences (Is AirBnB still operating?), and there is a conveniently located RV Park for those who may have that travel preference ... Good luck! |
April 3, 2020 cyborg45 Men's 75 194 posts | I have stayed at the "row",(Eldorado, Circus Circus and Silver Legacy) several times. Also stayed at the Peppermill once. All have been a good experiences. The "row" is all interconnected with restaurants and places to shop downtown. I personally like the fact that you don't have to leave the complex to get most things you need. |
April 3, 2020 chico senior Men's 60 134 posts | We used to always stay at Western Village in Sparks. They have upgraded all the rooms and have a huge parking area. You don’t have to struggle with downtown Reno traffic and you can get to Golden Eagle much quicker then anywhere downtown. The best part of Western Village is they have a lake right out the backdoor with a beautiful paved path around the entire thing. Now that we have an RV we stay at Sparks Marina RV Park which is just behind the Western Village. Rates at Western Village are as good or better then downtown. |

April 3, 2020 Wood_1966 Men's 55 164 posts | AirBnB prices are better right now that the hotel prices believe it or not! I got a 3 bedroom house, with a pool and hot tub for less than a hotel room. |
April 3, 2020 cyborg45 Men's 75 194 posts | Yep, the hotel rates have increased substantially over the past several years. 5 years ago the rates at the Legacy were around $19 for rooms during the week. Apparently demand has had an effect on prices. |
April 3, 2020 Wood_1966 Men's 55 164 posts | It is also important to note, that this year the tournament falls on a holiday weekend which also causes prices to be higher. |
April 3, 2020 SSUSA Staff 3466 posts | Wood ... Session #1 of Rock 'n Reno falls on the Memorial Day weekend EVERY year ... |
April 4, 2020 Jawood Men's 50 943 posts | Yes, the hotel prices in Reno have really gone up! Ridiculously high at the Sands ... they must think since they did some renovation, it's okay to gouge the prices! Last year as they had everything torn apart, they doubled the buffet price without improving the quality, which is very low! |
April 5, 2020 Benji4 Men's 55 289 posts | Vinny The Grand Sierra Resort is a nice hotel. Kinda pricey on Memorial Day weekend but nice nonetheless. |
April 5, 2020 Doak 19 posts | I love the optimism, they are hoping to start the NFL in September and we are talking about a May tourney. I am just hoping the Worlds happen... Doak #37 |
April 5, 2020 DaveDowell Men's 70 4296 posts | Doak ... That's a bit of an "apples vs. oranges" comparison ... The NFL has to work backwards from Opening Day to cover training camps and the (current) 4-game Exhibition Pre-Season schedule ... Generally that's about a seven-week deal ... We would love for Rock 'n Reno to happen, but our "front end" lead time is considerably shorter than the NFL ... We'll see ... Hope for the best and plan for the worst is true for us as well ... Stay safe everyone! ... |
April 5, 2020 Mikelmart 150 posts | I looked at Reno for Air B n B yesterday, lots of properties available and some are very reasonable COMPARED TO THE HOTELS WITH THEIR SERVICE FEES. The only thing you have to look out for is their cancellation policies which vary from property to property. I don't do hotels anymore due to the resort fees charged by hotels that started off in Las Vegas. |
April 5, 2020 HAT MAN Men's 50 228 posts | Thanks all. I like to see things as glass half full. If I have to cancel my reservations then so be it. With prices the way they are better to reserve and cancel then last minute flights and rooms. Vinny |
April 7, 2020 Omar Khayyam 1357 posts | Made my reservation yesterday, but be aware that the Nevada Governor closed all casino hotels, and in my case, there was no one there to answer questions at two different hotels I like. I went ahead and made a reservation online for last week of May (I'm an optimist) with cancelation free if before 24 hours (normal for Reno). And yes, there was a nice discount at the Grand Sierra, but my confirmation did not recognize the discount and I tried to contact a live person to find out why. No luck. Just a message to send an email query and it will be answered within a couple of days (still waiting). |
