Nov. 1, 2019 CALIHATS 1 posts | Shoulder Arthritis I've just been diagnosed with shoulder arthritis. Just wondering if there is any guys out there that play with this issue and what experience have they had. Its my left shoulder which is my non-throwing shoulder. I'm 47 and I am going to go through a rehab with a sports rehab specialist. I am going to work on it all winter so i am ready for spring ball. |

My advice is to make sure that you get a good rheumatologist if you haven't already. The guys had some potions with cider vinegar and other ingredients, but it never helped for him. The medicines for the non-osteo types require some serious thinking because they have can have serious side effects. Good luck on this journey. |
Nov. 1, 2019 44 Double D 4 posts | Calihats I also have been diagnosed with shoulder arthritis but it is in my right throwing shoulder. I went through the rehab, cortisone shots, but was unable to get my shoulder able to throw over hand. I pitched allot this season and played some outfield but all my throws were under hand or soft throws. After MRI and X-rays they have told me I have arthritis but they see no issues with my rotator, labrum and bicep tendons. My orthopedic surgeon said he could give me cortisone injection every 3 months that still didn't help with the pain of throwing or surgery to clean out the shoulder so I could have better rang of motion. So in 2 weeks I have my shoulder surgery. One other thing I found in my situation the pain started in March of this year and now it has progressed all season to get worse. Ready for it to be better. Icing the shoulder after use is a good thing to do. Helps with the inflammation. Be careful with medications, even over the counter. They can damage your liver and/or your kidneys. Keep up doing the exercises you can do at the gym or at home. Remember to rest it also. |
