Team Roster Clarification-2020
if you play in the November qualifier(Ft. Myers in this case) with a team that you are not normally associated with, are you now a registered member of that team? If so and you then want to return to the team you normally play with you need a release from them to return to your normal team. Not a problem, except you are only allowed one release/year, so if you re-sign with your normal team(already registered for 2020) but it fails to make a playable roster are you done for the year? Or, if the team disbands can the players sign with another team?

Thanks for responses and any pointers to rules that I missed.

BTW-I though I posted this earlier but have not seen it. Not sure what happened to it.

Marty - at some point Dave would come on here and tell you this - "You can send any Rating or Roster questions to info@seniorsoftball.com and put "Attention: Tiffany" in the subject line, that is the best advice.

I will tell you that based on the first part of you scenario, yes, you would need a release as I did the exact same thing in the 2019 season (played for a different team in Ft Meyers last Nov and then my original team this year). I BELIEVE the second part would be ONLY if your team PLAYED in a tournament would you be locked on that roster. I would say for your manager to NOT add you UNTIL you are ready to play to avoid such an issue.

But best you call the home office and ask them, better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks mck71, took your advice and emailed Tiffany. Will post her response. As the manager, I suspected the first part, which you verified, so as a registered manager I decided to skip Ft. Myers, 1st time in 10+ years, to give myself some wiggle room if I can't put a team together. We have missed most of the last two years with roster issues.

You are most certainly welcome Marty. The part that I am def not sure about is after you get your first release if the second team does disband during the season, do you get one more "release", would love to know what that answer is. Good luck and thx!

mck71,
Here is Tiffany's response, First part is clear as you noted, second part is somewhat unclear but my inference is two fold,
1) As you suggested, don't register any players until I have a full committed team.
2)If we do get started and then disband, players may be able to move to another team at the discretion of SSUSA.

Tiffany's Quote:
You are only allowed one release per season, so if you play with team “A” in Winter Nationals, you would need a release to go back to your regular team “B”.

If a team disbands then that would mean they aren’t going to play in the World Master Champs.

They would need to email us to inform us so we could properly note that, but that would not count as a formal release and potentially someone could go to one more team in the Season.
EndQuote:
Thanks again for your input.
Marty

That is what I thought but better to know exactly. Thx again Marty!
