Hi All:

Just wondering what new Adidas bats will be coming out for next season. All the Adidas bats are good but just wondering what new stuff we will see soon.

Thanks:

James, the fall edition of the ssusa newsletter had an article about the new melee max that would be available in October. A couple of weeks ago I had put a post on this website asking for feed back thinking that it might be available at the tournament in Vegas. My post got no responses but a couple hundred views. Since then I have seen these bats for sale on 2 different websites one of which said the expected release date is 10/20/19. Price 249. These new bats are supposed to have the tacky barrel and come in balanced, end load and 12". I figure maybe I'll see it for sale when we go to Ft. Myers in a few weeks.

Heard in Vegas that Adidas would not Brand a bat for 2020. Suncoast will or has purchased the Adidas bat line and will Brand the bats as SUNCOAST Melee.

For those interested in the new Melee be sure you see that vendor listed on the SSUSA approved bat list if you intend to use the bat for SSUSA. It would be horrible to spend all that money and not be able to swing it in SSUSA.

As of right now Suncoast is not on the approval list.

If the bats aren't approved by SSUSA how is that they were used in the tournament?

I am sure someone (Dave/Tim or maybe even Lee) will respond but I asked the same question of the home office before Vegas as I heard they would be there and answer made sense (as titanhd said): Suncoast is taking over for Adidas who are no longer making senior bats hence the Suncoast bats being called "Melee". That means they are taking over that sponsorship approval.

I am sure if I misstated something or did not explain it completely someone more knowledgeable about it than I will add onto it or clarify.

Melee is a model not a maker or brand. I don't see how the new Melee model made from Suncoast could have been legal to swing in Vegas if Suncoast is not approved. If the office stated it is approved maybe the office forgot to update the approved bat list here on the site?

JamesLG my hitting friend bought 2 in Vegas and sold me the 12" 28.5oz endload. I put 180 BP swings on with it. I'm 71 hitting yesterday on a 325 ft park and hit just one over. But a lot would have went over a 300 foot park.
Great pop and distance. Love the way it swings. For my swing it's worth the money. Just my opinion.

Hi Lefty:

What model did you get? I am 66 and have been swinging the original Gold Reebok Melee EL 28oz. I like the end load and feel of those old bats but want to find a new bat that I like also. The old ones are getting very hard to find.

Thanks:

It's the 2020 Suncoast Melee. Get the 28.5 oz if you swing a 28oz Melee. Swings light. I had the old gold one but it was a while back. Can't guarantee you'll like the new one.

$249 for a no warranty bat is outrageous. I paid $150 for an og Combat DaBomb in'05 and I still have it(gamer)

JU25 . Just to chime in. The Rep. mentioned to me a 90 day warranty on Suncoast bats. Don't remember his name but, we played at Dessert Breeze.

Again this is all "hearsay".

The 2 websites I've seen these bats for sale both have a 60 warranty and one says the bat is certified for SSUSA while the other says its approved for ssusa/isa. That being said I think by the number of views for this post people would still like confirmation on the legality of these bats as mck71 had suggested.

Easy enough to find out if these are approved. The bat will have a " SSUSA APPROVED 1.21 BPF " stamp or printed on the barrel. Both the 1st and 2nd generation Melee's were approved. I still have a couple of each. 1st generation Melees ( Reebok) are hard to find, 2nd generation Melees ( Adidas) are still being sold. Im certain these new Melees have been approved. It would not wise to sell a bat which cannot be used for tournament play.

Sounds like Lefty has one in his possession, maybe he can confirm if the bat has the ' approved ' stamp on it.

Titanhd I heard the same thing about Suncoast taking over the adidas line. I also heard adidas will have a small logo on the bat.

@ AJC- A bat having that stamp does not make it legal for SSUSA play. It must be on the approved bat list here. https://seniorsoftball.com/?page=37

Just having the stamp would make bats like Monsta and Boomba bats legal that at one time were legal to swing.

If these new bats are similar to last years red two piece but with a little more end load I will be buying one. The red bat is nice but just needs more EL.

Some info to the questions that are out there about the new Suncoast Melee Max bat series.

The Suncoast Group met w Senior Softball in August to announce the new brand for the Melee SR brand bats. We did the paperwork, submitted the bat testing results, paid the fees & liability Insurance requirements. This has all been taken care of before Vegas, & is on the SSUSA website as an approved bat under the Suncoast brand. The new senior 1.21 logo has been replaced with the SSUSA logo, and thats the approved logo for Senior Softball tournaments & associations.(per SSUSA)

Suncoast has always had the exclusive rights on Adidas Softball & worked with Adidas on making the top tier products for the softball players. Going forward, Adidas will not be launching any new products in the bat line. They will continue to make the Adidas Melee 2-piece Endload & Balance bats thru 2020. As our agreement with Adidas was to have a bat line for at least 2 years. The Melee2 1-piece bats are no longer being made. They will be inventory thru early 2020 but then will be sold out. (with some sizes already sold)

Suncoast Melee Max is made, designed by the same group, designers, testers, engineers, factory that made the Reebok Melee & the Adidas Melee Softball bats.

Melee Max has:
1. 3 different models (12" end, 13" end & 13" bal)
2. New composite technology (Opti-Dura Performance Composite)
3. MAX speed handle 3/4 inch handle (thinnest in Sr market)
4. Stick & Spin tackified barrel technology
5. 60 day limited warranty (60 degrees weather)

We feel that the Suncoast MELEE MAX is the best Melee & Sr bat that weve ever produced for Max Performance, Max Durability & Max Speed. Get with a Suncoast/Adidas rep to try it out. Next shipment will be in end of the month.

We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you on the field!

Hi Lee:

Is the 12" like last years red 12" Adidas or is it a true 12" like the 2018 orange? Also is the EL a 1/2oz or more?

I will be buying one just need to figure out what bat to get.

Thanks for the help.

You’re in luck JamesLG because I swung both the Adidas Melee 2-piece EL and Melee Max 2-piece EL 12” today. There is an ever slight swinging difference between the two with the heavier edge to the Adidas but not by much. When you mention the Orange bat I assume you’re talking about the Adidas EL one-piece 12”. I love this bat especially after about 500 hits, it gets really hot. Believe it or not, my Adidas 12” EL one-piece 25oz seems to swing heavier than my Melee Max 12” EL 25.5oz. but both perform very well.. I hope my info helps and not too late especially since your post date is in October.

Hi Mr Wolf

Thanks for the update. I should have a red 12" Melee Max delivered in the next couple days. Can't wait to put a few swings on it but it is kind of cool out here so not sure if I will swing it Friday. If I like the way a bat is weighted I can usually find the sweet spot most of the time.

Thank You:

James

Hi All:

I received my 12" Suncoast Melee max and it has been too cold to hit it yet but it definitely feels more end loaded than last years red Adidas. The handle feels quite a bit thinner so it feels like you can get a little more bat speed. Can't wait to get out and hit it. I usually swing a 28oz bat so I bought the 27.5 and to me it feels pretty close in weight.

Thanks:

James
