In vegas they always have a east vs west game, why isn't there a game for the northern national champs vs the southern national champs, your thoughts?

Eastern vs. Western National Championship games match the winners of the two largest geographic coverage tournaments, both with qualified rosters, in one game in Las Vegas for the National Championship ... The other events you mention from the other "compass points" (NE, SE, SW, NW, MW, North, South and so on) are simply regional qualifier events and do not require "qualified rosters" to compete ... This question gets recycled every year, so here's the same answer for your consideration ... Good luck!

Just a thought, couldn't these 2 tournaments be more centrally located in their prospective regions. The Western Nationals is located in California, how many teams participate in it that aren't from California? Not many. How many States are eligible for the Western Nationals? Where is the cut-off of States that can compete. If it was more Centrally located, more Teams might be interested in participating. Possibly the same for the East. Just thinking out loud.

There are already 2 big tournaments in Las Vegas each year and another big one in Phoenix. Where would you propose out west that is "central" - and would draw more than 130 teams?

The Eastern championships were effectively held about 20 miles from Washington, DC this year. What "central" location would you propose for that?

My curiosity is that, to Win the Triple Crown, you have to win the Western Nationals, as I'm in the west, and then beat the Eastern Champions in the World Championship tournament in Vegas, And win the World Championship. Does these other regions that you mentioned,( N, NE, MID WEST, SOUTH ETC) have a chance to win the Triple Crown. If I lived in Kansas, what tournaments would I have to play in to win the Triple Crown. Washington DC and California are a long was away to play in if I lived in Kansas. Not sure why you mentioned Vegas. Western Nationals is in California.

Just a quick addendum to Tim's observations ... In the moves to other Western locations (Reno 2006-07, Salt Lake City 2008-09, Lacey, WA, 2010 and Aurora, CO, 2012) and the recent Eastern move last year to Valdosta, GA, attendance was considerably lower than in Sacramento for the Western's and either Raleigh or Loudoun County in the Eastern's ... This may well fit in the category called "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ... Thanks for your thoughts ...

Thanks for the info, my question is, if I lived in Kansas, what tournaments would we have to play in, and win, to win the Triple Crown. Thanks guys.

tall_thunder - simple answer, either one. You could have played in Sacramento and if you won you would be the Western Champion or played in Loudoun County and win your diviions and been the Eastern Champion. Doesn't matter what state you live in, it only matters which tourney you play in and win. Make sense?

I'm pretty sure the Mississippi River is the dividing line. If you're from the west, and play and win in the east, you do not get to represent the East. Staff?

In regard to the Western National, I think maybe (don't know the year) that they started to award a spot in the east-west game when the tournament was moved to Sacramento a few years ago. That may have something to do with the better attendance there because the fields in Sacramento are horrible with no concessions. If a #1 or #2 seed is on the line at another venue, there may be just as many teams in the tournament if it was in Reno, Lacey or Aurora which all have much better complexes.

No concessions in Sacramento? The primary field has an order-at-the cash register, air-conditioned restaurant! Don't know about the other locations in Sacramento.

Haven't played in Aurora or Lacey but have heard they are better fields. Reno with its variety of fields is a tossup to Sacramento area with Golden Eagle in Reno the best.

mck71 & Dbax ... Teams may play "out of region" in either the Eastern or Western National Championships but, as noted, may not represent in the USA National Game should they win "on the other side" ... This has happened twice, with Fairway Ford (CA) 80's winning in the Eastern's in Raleigh and Pope Transport (WI) winning in the Western's in Sacramento ...

Jawood ... The #1/#2 Seed structure for the USA Game participants in brackets of at least five teams began in 2012, when the Western's were in Aurora, CO ... It was in response to a seeding debacle that came out of a USA game in the 2011 Phoenix SSUSA World Championships ... Because the USA game is not a random match-up and not subject to time limits like all other seeding games, it could (and did) yield unfair results to BOTH teams ... In 2011, the 50-AAA USA National Championship game had 5150's (CA) defeating Eagle Tile/Who's on 1st (MD) by a score of 30-26 in nine innings ... The extended game and the Runs Allowed tie-breaker caused the 5150's to be seeded #9 (of the nine unbeaten teams) and Eagle Tile to be seeded #29 (of the 29 teams in the bracket) ...

Thx Dave!

and I forgot to finish the full answer to the actual question 1) win your division in East or West Nationals (depending on what state you live in), 2) win the USA Game (usually on play in day in Vegas) and then 3) win your division at World Championship in Vegas . That is the Triple Crown.

Not 100% positive but believe Dbax is correct with regards to the Mississippi being the "East/West" divider. So if you live in Kansas, you would need to win the West, is that correct Dave?
