Why can’t a team just pick up any player to play in a tournament when that players team is not playing in that tournament!! I want to play somewhere every other weekend sometimes every weekend depending on how busy I am at work!! For instance say a team from Georgia needs one player to play in Georgia and I’m the same age and classification as they are it should not hurt for me to play that weekend!!!

The prohibition against "mercenary" type, have-bat-will-travel, players is to preserve roster integrity as it relates to team ratings ... Not inferring you are "that guy", but to allow upper end talented guys to play anywhere, anytime creates an unfair advantage in favor of the team doing the recruiting ... Preventing that circumstance outweighs your personal desire "..to play every other weekend somewhere.." as you stated ... Good luck! ...

You should be able to pretty much do what you want Jimmy. Need to be on an ISA, USSSA, SSUSA, and ASA. Use legal options to play on multiple teams based on skill level and age. Pick up on a team in an open roster tourney or two. Add a church league and a Co-ed team, and you should be able to get 24 tourneys per year easily!

Excellent advice my butt!!! I am 53 I play AAA I can play 55 on next years roster!! If a AAA team needs a player on a weekend and I’m a AAA player they should be able to pick up a Player of their class division as long as his team is not playing in that tournament!!!! There is ten young teams around here I can play with. But they shave bats , restitch balls too many smart asses it is not any fun!!! The church ball is same way! Last church ball I played the other team hit our pitcher 4 times and laughed until one of our guys sent one off of their pitchers face mask!! People should be able to play as long as their team is not playing!!

CJ ... We agree that you can play whenever your team is not ... We have also defined (by rule) and explained how that works in SSUSA sanctioned events for us to maintain roster integrity in the ratings realm ... curveball also provided you very logical and comprehensive alternatives for you to consider ... Your apparent conceptual objection to his and our advice does not change it's characterization from sound to something less ...

Rather than demand that this association change rules that work pretty well for a high percentage of its membership for the benefit of a few, can I offer a couple of suggestions?

1) Find a team that plays often enough to suit your needs.
2) Find an association that allows players to hop from roster to roster.

It seems to me that sSusa and spa. Would want a team that is short handed by one or two players to pick up one or two players in there classification so that team can play in that tournament!! Three teams combined into one team in Issa last year so the main team could play!! There was no problems what so ever!! I guess that is why so many teams I talked to didn’t come to music city event two good teams In TN said they won’t play ssusa I’m beginning to understand why!!! The only reason my team is playing in it it’s the closest one of the year!!! That’s why isa and nsa softball is getting replaced by u-trip around TN is because of management!! SSUSA IS FROM CALIFORNIA I GUESS THAT SAYS IT ALL!!!

Too many teams take advantage of the open rosters. I have been to tourneys and seen the same guys playing for 4 different teams in the same age bracket over a 6 month period. I agree that it would be nice to go and play at a tourney that your team is not attending. I do feel that you have to have control over a roster to stop teams from loading up for one tourney. CJ ... Since you brought it up, you DID get the two (of three) major senior associations correct that believe in roster integrity for their events ... And in what may be a disappointment for you, the roster eligibility rules are exactly the same for California teams ...

I understand that also which I understand all of it but hell I’m just a AAA player and what I mean by that I don’t hit homeruns I hit for a very high average I’ll play good defense I can run as fast as anybody out there faster than most but I’m not a guy that can clear the bases with one swing

So, in your view a guy that hits for a very high average, plays solid defense and is faster than most should be allowed to play on as many teams as he wants. A guy that can hit the ball over the fence should be restricted to one team. Makes perfect sense to me.

Cowboy Jimmy: This is the way I see it.

Team 1 is AAA has 3 real good base hitters and a couple of HR hitters.
Team 2 is AAA has 2 great hitters and real and has 2 great homerun hitters.
Team 3 is AAA has 4 of the best hitters around the area maybe 3 or them might be almost a 10 rating but plays with a team of friends and plays around .500 ball.

Weekend that 2 or those teams are not playing Team 3 adds 3 of team 1 real good hitters and 2 of team 2 homerun hitters that can also hit for average.
All of a sudden that team could win a lot of games in a Major tournament.
Once you open the door for players to float around this will happen.

Last year I had my team release me after we finished playing for the year I played with another team then they dropped me I played with another then this year I went back to my team. And the other teams I played for we didn’t win shit but they got to play!!! Just cause a team picks up one or two players that doesn’t mean they will win!!! It just means they have enough to play!! Limit any team to picking up one no more than two players just so they can play!! TM. Tell me who you would rather have bases loaded two outs two runs down bottom of 7. Home run left. A home run hitter or a base hitter!!! Most people pick up HR hitters!!

Tm. For instance two years ago I played for a team that everyone on the team could hit home runs but me!! The first two tournaments I out hit everybody for average!! The next two tournaments he sit me on the bench just because I couldn’t hit home runs then the next year didn’t want me to play!! Story of my life!!!

CJ, as stated before there are plenty of other leagues you could play with to satisfy your need to play every day and/or weekend. From reading your history of moving from team to team, maybe you need to look at what kind of TEAM MATE you are! If you switch teams just because you are unhappy about your role with the TEAM, then that affects the TEAM in a negative way! I have played/managed senior SB for over 15 years & have had to "cut loose" players like you appear to be. I hope you can find a team you can stay with, and if you have the talent you say you have, you COULD be an asset to that team with the right attitude. Good luck!

Chief 144. The first team I played with started before my team started playing they knew that when my team started playing they would have to drop me! It allowed them to play them tournaments until their players started!! And they wanted me to play full time!! After my team stopped playing for the year they dropped me so I could keep playing!! The next team I picked up with played one tournament then went to 55 age. I’m not old enough!! Then went to Myrtle Beach with a combination of three teams now I’m back on my team!! And yes we placed in every tournament we played in last year!! I am the sponsor of the team I play on and do not run the team I play where they put me!! Every team I have played for wanted me to play full time!! And yes the team I play for re all my buddies for 25 years!!!!

AND DBAX I TAKE THAT AS SMART REMARK AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH IT!!

Knew that was coming!!! I just want to play when I can and one person will not turn any one team into a championship team!! Don’t have ego!! But my money won’t be put towards a SSUSA Tournament in the future!! But Ssusa is not doing anything about kellys heat treating senior bats!!! It’s all over Facebook!!!

CJ ... Good luck wherever you play ... But it DOES appear you are already heeding the original advice from cureveball about playing in multiple associations ... We show you only playing in SSUSA sanctioned tournaments for one team in 2015 (3 events with TN Connection), for one team in 2016 (2 events with Monster Softball) and for one team in 2017 (1 event with Kent's Players) ... We don't show you having played in SSUSA in 2018 or the 2019 Season to date ... We DO appreciate you playing by the eligibility rules, even in a rather limited participation schedule ... Again, good luck and play safely, wherever that may be ...

Dave D. my man!

He should move to the northern California area if he wants to play almost every weekend under the SSUSA and NCSSA guidelines. Plenty of senior softball to be played. Three nights a week of senior softball keeps me loose for the weekend NCSSA tournaments or the 3-day SSUSA tournaments. Can I get a hallelujah from the guys that know me?

Also in Nor Cal there are about 4-6 city senior leagues that play during the day if you can get away in the mornings.

I do commercial roofing and I work late thru the week just so I can let myself off on the weekends to go play!! when I get off work and get home I can’t move the senior leagues are 1 1/2 hours away. So I only play when they are short handed and it’s a doubleheader!!
