A fifth rating?
I am aware of the four skill levels, AA, AAA, Major and Major-Plus.
Is there another level, higher than Major-Plus, Super-Major?
In the past I have heard this term but it was used in place of Major-Plus.
Dave or anyone else?

Yeah kinda dumb. Instead of changing geographical borders so east coast teams can compete at a higher level, the best teams in the west got bumped to plus plus. I think it's unfair to the west because now they have to give runs or a fielder when the teams aren't that far apart.

Team Kitty beat JK.inc in 50 major plus finals taking the extra player. If they were allowed to get a couple more players from around the east coast they could have and would have played them straight up. Who knows who would have won but the games would have been great to watch.

How you been btw.

Kevin, yes, I have heard that about the 65 Major-Plus team out west. I didn't know Team Kitty was in the same boat.
I'm doing great, seems like I'm beating this thing called "old age", at least for now. ;)
I hope you are doing well, heard you were going through some things.

Bruce ... At the National Rules Committee sessions last November, Staff was instructed to evaluate tournament results to determine if there were teams that were clearly dominant at the Major+ (or otherwise highest) rating level ... On January 9, 2018, the staff was, based on that survey, instructed to implement competitive balance provisions in an attempt to level the playing field a bit ... Initially there were four teams affected with an in effect Major++ rating, and one more team was added to that list very recently ... The Rules Committee will be hearing if this solution was effective or not, which will be the basis of potential modification or elimination, later this month ... Two of those four teams from last season won the 2018 World Masters Championships in their division and two did not ...

Dave hope you Fran and the entire family are well.

A couple of observations I've seen over the years of being involved with senior softball as a vendor going back to 1992 and as a player.

The best sponsor usually can get the best players.

The best players will attract other best players.

At some point there needs to be a top program that can work in younger ball it's major. ! team has been dominate for about 11 years. Yes they lost a few but I think it was 9 out of 11 at 1 point. Teams like this and the ones that compete against them get the best players from all over the country.. Yes I know this will not work for seniors because there is probably only 2 sponsors that could afford it..

But at the top level the top teams have different advantages and disadvantages based on whether they are from the east or west. take JK they can play entirely within the rules and maintain the best team status. There is an abundance of players available to them to pick from. Borders give them almost the entire west coast at least where the most players are from. Plus they get 2 pickups.

Now team Kitty great team and sponsors. If the states here on the east coast weren't so cut up they could have a equal team and wouldn't have needed the extra fielder to compete. Now I didn't say win they would be able to compete on the same level. Now if they get moved up based on the win the have no one to play out east, that's no fun.

So lets say you allow major plus 4 pickups. It would help the east greatly while not punishing the west they too could get 4. I think it would make the other teams in the west stronger allowing them to get dome outside guys that JK doesn't have and raise their competitiveness.

In the east it would allow many teams the ability to get more competitive. There's many players to pick up 2-3 hours away from top teams but cant play with them because of border restrictions. By doing this everyone gets better no one get hurt.

Then go to major and allow 2 and again everyone gets better no one gets hurt. The east has always been tough since the restrictions, and I know you guys have done many things to make it easier for these teams but just a few players to the top two teams would really equal out the competition.

IF know JK didn't like to lose that way and Kitty win that way, the rules determined the outcome of the game These guys just want to go out and battle on the field and the best rises. As long as east and west gets same amount of pickups the competition will get better for everyone.

Wish I could come to convention to dee you guys but I've had a few surgeries in the last 3 months and still cant really walk. Say hi to all hope your all well.

Not sure what Kitty's roster makeup was but here was
JK Inc's.

Three guys from Arizona
One guy from Northern Calif.
Two guys from Nevada
Eight guys from Southern Calif.

All bordering states with no other pickups.

Benji that's my point.

You played within the rules but had give runs or a player. There is so many guys out there to build teams that in the cut up parts of the country it is impossible to build competitive teams to compete.

I know as a player myself I wouldn't want to win or lose the way the game went.

If teams could pick up 2 more guys including you guys in the the west I think more teams could be competitive. Then everyone plays straight up. Better game less rules and more fun..

The reality is you guys may never use the extra two pickups but you could if needed so its fair to all.

The game has so many rules due to the equipment used its getting crazy. I remember back in 92 in NJ the 2 best teams battled it our with single wall bats and the score was 19 to 15. Most of those guys are still around and playing 70, All great players and big name guys. Back then you played 7 inning and scored as many runs as you could.

This just in! The NCAA and NBA are going to follow SSUSA's guidelines and will institute the following rules to try to keep an even playing field. The Golden State Warriors will now have to spot 10 points or give an extra player and Alabama's football team will only be able to play their starters in the first and third quarters!

The bad thing about doing that to Alabama, is that their 2nd string is better than most first strings in the league.
Maybe play 1st string in the first quarter, 2nd in the 2nd quarter and so forth.

I am curious what ranking a player has when leaving a Major plus PLUS team. Does this mean none of them can play on a Major team?
