With a new year starting up I just wanted to get it out that I would love to see all age groups playing the same rules and feel it is time to have all age groups start the 1-1 count. I was very hopeful last year when I moved to 65 age group that I would see the change to 1-1. When I saw that the 65 group had voted for the change to 1-1 I was thrilled since I knew the younger groups were also changing after vote. I assume as this is the end of year that maybe rules will be visited and I am hopeful that we all can play under the same rules. I think overall senior softball is doing a wonderful job at giving us seniors a chance to play the game of children and I am so thankful to spend time on the field with you all. I also want to thank CEO Terry for being so kind each year to help the Christian Children's Home I was Director for in our Golf tournament each year.I hear a lot of thoughts about the Senior Program but I am thankful they give us a chance to play. See you on the field. |

It's technically true that the polling we did late last year on the "1-1" count for the 65+ age group did favor that change, the margin of preference was thin at 53.5 - 46.5% ... That spread didn't reach a mandate-type margin in favor like the other age groups for which the "1-1" was approved, where the margin was at least 20% ... There is also the complication of consistency where, in many smaller events, 70+ and 65+ divisions play together in at least pool play ... As just one member of the National Rules Committee, I don't envision there will be seven votes (of the 13) in favor of a change for the 65+ age division this year ... Mine would not be one of the seven needed ... |
