Fran and I are thrilled to announce the newest addition to the Grandchildren's League at 7:54 am today. Rosemary Dowell joins the Napa franchise, weighing in at a robust 8 lbs 11 oz. Talks with the three franchise ownership groups indicate that rosters may well be frozen. Current (and possibly final) score is: GIRLS (5) • BOYS (2).

Hey Dave, my son was born over 8-pounds as well. He was born in a Baptist Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. He got a certificate that said: "Any boy baby over 8-pounds, is hereby directed to report 18 years from today to the Baylor Bears football program in Waco, Texas." Pretty funny. Sounds like your grandson might be eligible for some big boy athletic program somewhere. Congratulations.

Congratulations Dave and Fran!! Probably not quite the final score. Next comes the great grandchildren. I am at 9 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. And you can add great in front of that list for my Mom. Still more to come. The birthday and Christmas gift list just keeps growing.

A bit of trivia here! Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright) weighed 14 pounds at birth, (OUCH) then the largest baby ever born in Bowie County, Texas. By the time that he was in the first grade, Blocker weighed 105 pounds.
