Aug. 20, 2018 gonz 51 posts | what is the ruling? watched a game this weekend. In our league you are allowed one HR per game. After that Hr is counted as out. Team up to bat already hit one out so done for the rest of the game. Team hit a ball off the top of the fence, then went over. Umpire first said it was 4 base award. The team on the field appealed that this is an out as it didn't touch a fielders glove before going over fence which it hit. What would be the correct ruling? Someone asked if could be considered a double as it hit the top of the fence then went over. thanks Sherwin Gonzales #35 Hawaiians |

Picking at nits a little here, but it would also be a 4-base-award if the ball was touched by a fielder after clearing the top of the fence, like the outfielder reaching over and touching the ball while trying to "bring it back" unsuccessfully ... |

Aug. 21, 2018 gonz 51 posts | coop and Dave, thank you for the response. the call was overturned to be an out as no one touched the ball. mind you that the fence is about 20 ft tall and it is up on a hill about another 20 feet. thanks Sherwin Gonzales #35 Hawaiians |
