50's player looking to get back into the game
Left the game a couple of years ago and looking to get back into it. Minnesota is my home state. 50's this year and 55' next year. Can play pretty much anywhere. Ok speed and avg. arm. Have some power and hit for an Ok avg. Just looking to get back into the game with a team.

MN26, you might try the Minnesota director. He can be found under links, but I will copy the information here. Bill Geisbauer, 651-303-6816, bsgeisy1010@yahoo.com. If you go to the Leagues tab, there are quite a few listed for Minnesota. I will caution you though that one of my goals in the next few months is to get Indiana cleaned up as it is really not right at all. So hopefully Minnesota is more correct right now than our state's.

I called the National office and was told that this was the best way to get coaches to see you are looking to play. They don't give out Contact info for the few teams coaches that our State has. If this doesn't work I can just go back to playing the non-senior game, I guess. Most of our State seems to be 60 and up, for numbers.

MN26, that is good advice, but my personal experience with getting players for our team or helping players find a team has always focused on local contacts. We never picked up a player from the message board. I just sent a 72 to our local league to start playing again. I have gotten a few younger guys into senior softball that have started their own teams which makes me very proud. I wish you the best of luck, and if I can assist, please let me know.

MN26 - I am friends with the team that just went to CA and won the 50 Majors TOC.

Have you always played in MN? What teams and class?

Yes I know a few of the guys from that team, have played with and against some. I'm a C class player. AAA to major is where I belong in the Seniors after playing it already. They seem to have more than enough guys at this point.

Understood. I just turned 50, but haven't played in almost 15 years, but think i am going to give it a try. Not sure if you know Lou Peterson or Darin Holman, but they might be able to send you in the right direction.

Best of luck

Yeah, I don't have much faith in finding a team here. We just don't have enough listed in our State. I doubt they are watching this board.

I am also looking for a team next year. Played none senior softball for 35 years until two years ago. I am 62 but can play down to say a 55+ AAA or Major team. I am a pitcher with decent power. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

MN26, I saw some teams from Minnesota and Iowa in the Ratings list. If you touch State, it will sort the list for easier use by you.

Mick13, is it a good guess that you are from Kansas City? If so, I know the directors there, and they have an excellent league program and some great tournament teams. Just let me know, and I would be glad to help you.

It's fun to play with kids your own age. NA

Thanks Nancy.

I saw that. Just no way of finding out if these teams are still around or who runs them. I emailed the State guy hoping to get some help.
Mick, playing in one of the leagues during the weekdays will get you on a traveling team, I'm sure. or you can hope an email works, like I am.

MN26 give Bill A call as Nancy suggested. He can put you in contact with several people and team's in the 50 & 55 groups. Team's are always looking for players in that area. They also have senior leagues in the twin cities if you live there and they are always looking for more players as well.

I talked with Bill and he helped me out with a league. I also put a few feelers out and it looks like I will be playing a little weekend ball also. Thanks for everyone's help. Enjoy the rest of your season.

Nancy- I am not from Kansas City although I have played in national tournaments there. I am from the Twin Cities and currently live in Lakeville. My name is Steve Mickelson and am known around softball community as "Beaver". Just trying to get my softball fix back and any suggestions would help. Thanks

Mick13, well, that was not a good guess on my part. Since you are in Minnesota, my advice would be the same as for MN26. It seemed to work for him. I am here if you have a team that you can't find in the lists or anything else that I can assist you with. Good luck, kid.
