What is timing on June TEAM RATING update? Please
Targeted completion date is Monday, July 9th ...
Are we there yetor a few more days?
Thanks
Email notification letters were sent to the managers of all affected teams on Friday, July 6th ... They encompassed [1] Performance moves UP; [2] Performance moves DOWN; [3] Appeals GRANTED; and [4] Appeals DENIED ... Please contact your manager if you have any questions or, if you are a manager, you know the proper procedure for email contact with the SSUSA's Home Office ... Rating matters are very seldom discussed on the phone because of the requirement to have an accurate "paper trail" both ways ...
Staff, so the letters went out to the managers on July 6th, when do you think the results will be updated on the website?
Thanks
BruceAZ ... Almost all of the changes have been made on the RATINGS pages of this website ... Sort the pages by clicking on "Updated" for the most recent changes first rather than scrolling all the way down each page trying to spot them ... There are a handful of "bubble teams" that are going to be finalized after the Northeast, Midwest and Jim Sherman Northwest tournaments this week ...
How can Pill&Pill 65s be reclassified to Major and we only played 1 SSUSA tournament in 2018? Yes we were "awarded" 1st place in the Atlantic Coast Championship because rain canceled the last day of play,we never won it on the field. We went 4-1 and lost to a then AA team in that tournament.Has a team ever been bumped after just one 1 tournament played against 5AAA and 1 AA teams. How can you (SSUSA)justify this rating bump?
pizzaboy ... As mentioned above, have your manager contact the SSUSA ratings department by email to make any case you think appropriate ... We don't do ratings disputes publicly ... Thanks!
After reading your email to Mr Pill I can see why you don'the want the public to see your reasoning for the reclassification. ...Thanks
Staff, you made a few more additions last night, there weren't that many yesterday and I thought there should have been a few more.
Thanks for the updates.
Don't worry Bruce. You guys didn't get the shaft, we did.
I reviewed some of the teams that were moved up to Major Plus 40's & 50's. Obviously you have never actually watched some of those teams play. Numbers do not always tell you the whole story, because not only will they get destroyed by true major + teams, chances are someone will get hurt. I am guessing like last year, you offer a team to play 3 tournaments in major + and then resubmit a request to be reclassified. So basically force a team to spend $1200 to $1500 to prove they do not belong.
This is all so wrong. you hear conversations between teams saying, your going to get bumped up if you win a tournament, and the sad thing about that is it is true. You put a good Majot team together that can compete, but not dominate and you get penalized for it.
Some people are meant to play at a high level and some are not. No matter how much I practiced playing baseball, I knew I would never play professional ball. Same with softball. No matter how much I practiced when I was younger, I could never play above C level. Now all of a sudden my team of C & D players back in the day are now considered to be Major Plus?
Please do not reply that I have the option to go play elsewhere, because most 40 & 50 teams already are.
I saw that Dave, good luck in Major Plus.
Here's the deal. At the beginning of the new year we try to put together a good team within the current rules. The goal was to try and win the triple crown. I think every competitive team does the same.
We win the Winter Worlds. Then we win Spring Worlds. Scores were close. Then in April we ge our butts kicked and finish third.
Now we get bumped to Major Plus before we even get a chance to try and win in Sacramento?
We think we can compete at Plus level, that's not the point. The point is why bump anyone in mid season? Let them try and win a World first. Make your bumps after the Worlds. Then there would be no controversy.
It makes no sense. Especially when you are only playing the same teams in your part of the country.
I know this is Deja Vu all over again, but it's ridiculous.
Oh, and Enviro Vac DOES NOT get bumped after second place in the Worlds.
Fishy.
Dbax, I congratulate you and your team on your success. You not only became competitive, but you leaped up a ranking. Your performance has been stellar:
In the Winter Worlds, you were undefeated (beating a Major Plus in seeding play), averaged 27 runs a game, and outscored all your opponents by an average of 10 runs per game!
In the Spring Worlds, you again were undefeated (beating a 65 Major Plus), averaged 21 runs a game, and outscored all your opponents by an average of 7 runs per game!
In the Southwest Championships, you lost, but again scored 20 runs per game and even outscored all your opponents in total runs!
It is no surprise to me that you were reranked to Major Plus since you truly are a superior team. Looking forward to seeing how you do in Vegas (missed you in Reno since you didn't enter).
Yep, you are correct. And we were excited to try and win a triple crown or a World championship. All I'm saying is give teams a chance and make bumps after the Worlds.
i am thinking build a team play last qualifier only then worlds
That's the way to do it. We support SSUSA though and enjoy playing in their tournaments.
Staff. If a team has already qualified for the TOC as a Major team and is re-rated to M+ what rating would they now play TOC?
They still get to play Major.
titanhd ... Dbax is correct about the TOC invitation ... Teams qualify and are invited to the TOC based on their rating at the time they earned their bid ... The only exception, which is rare but has happened a few times, is if the team later wins another bid at a different rating ... In that case, they compete in the TOC at the higher of the two ratings ...
That is the exact reason why our team has not played a SSUSA tournament since April. We qualified as a Major team in November then got rerated in January to Major-Plus. We tried to play in a tournament as Major-Plus and found out our current team was not good enough to compete and no we are not going to change our team midyear. The guys are not going to travel and spend all that money just to prove a point. So now we have to wait until February to play in another SSUSA tournament. See you at the TOC.
Is the 60M divison at the Midwest Championship being played Major without the consideration of the one recently rated M+ team?
YES. Teams play at their then-current rating on the date of the entry deadline for the specific tournament. The 60-Major in Rogers will be only 60-Major.
So if the Ssusa is following the same formula they used to reclassify Pill&Pill every tournament winner will be reclassified, correct?Pill&Pill played only one rainshortened Ssusa tournament in all of 2018.We were awarded 1st place after winning two 5 innings games and a Major team we became!Yes life is fair!
pizzaboy. There are only 3 automatic move up Tourneys. The Alantic Coast is not one of them.
There has to be other considerations that caused the move-up. Roster conposition and run differential being the prominent factors.(not just the tourney you win but, overall run differential.) SSUSA has created a mad science that's not understood by all but,as far as I know and understand they use their "science" fairly across all teaams. jmo
"automatic move" championships in a bracket of more than five teams ... Those three tournaments are ...
1. The LVSSA/SSUSA World Masters in Las Vegas;
2. The SPA World Championships in Dalton, GA; and
3. The ISA Senior World Series in Columbus, IN
i understad 4 teams got moved up in 50 majors who are they please
Pa ... There were only two moves from 50-Major to Major+ ... [1] Crush 50's (CA) and [2] OG (CA) ... JU Entertainment/Aftershock (CA) had their 50-Major+ rating restored after having moved "down" to 40-Majors for the Northern California State Championships ... In the future, you can get this information easily yourself by going the desired age group on the RATING page of this website and sorting the list by "Updated" .. That will give you the changes in reverse chronological order from the most recent ...
titanhd ... Thanks for the correct statement of the ONLY tournaments that result in an automatic rating move up for the Champions ... The dozens of times we have posted it don't seem to register with some folks! ... But we both know that wasn't the primary motivation for his rant comment! ...
thank you Dave and thank you for updating the games when your at a tournament makes it nice for a guy hurt and can not make it out
Thanks Pa ... But truth be known, this is happening from the "Bunker" at Tournament Control in Sacramento where I've been holed up since the NorCal event ... The guys actually getting it done are the onsite Directors from Syracuse to Rogers to Salem who are calling them in pretty efficiently after some exhausting hot summer days! ... They're the key ... Get well soon! ...
TitanHD this was the only tournament that Pill&Pill played Ssusa in 2018.We won by 3,3(aa)team and 9 runs in our three wins and the then the tournament was canceled. Our roster has 1 major player on it and he played on our 60 team in that tournament. But the ssusa said they have evaluators and other teams managers watching us play,I'm assuming they mean in Issa tournament? If true how can our Ssusa ranking be affected by our Issa roster?I'm so confused!
There appears to be a trend with the Associations attempting to "standardize" team ratings.
Playing Major in SSUSA and playing AAA in SPA or ISSSA may be a thing of the past.
Matching Association ratings will be the norm. Which in my opinion will aleviate a a lot of the "we don't belong" contentions.
titanhd, know about the "automatic" move up tourneys, but the Rock n' Reno is as close to that "automatic" as you can get. Some of this years "graduates" 50M, 55AAA, 60M, 65AAA, 70M, and 70AAA. Need to be prepared to move up if you win that one!
Curveball, you hit the nail on the head.
And you both bent the nail in the process! ... The Southwest Championships (230) and Rock 'n Reno (207) are very large events ... In fact, they are WAY larger than the SPA Nationals or the ISA Senior Worlds, the ONLY other two "automatic move" events in addition to the World Masters Championships ... We get to see a LOT of teams in the same place against the best competition ... It shouldn't surprise anyone that some of those teams would be moved ... But it makes for better drama if you just ignore the 25± other division winners who didn't get moved ... This sort of conspiracy-theory analysis is pretty funny stuff!
No conspiracy against Pill&Pill right Dave?I hope your evaluators were in Morgantown last weekend when we went 1-4.
