Divisions
Has SSUSA considered reducing the number of divisions in the 70 age group? Major Plus teams can chose players from all over and thus must be in a separate category. However, there are approximately 17-AA, 86-AAA and 38 major teams (very few on the east coast). By eliminating the AA category and with some adjustments you could come up with 71-AAA teams and 70-Major teams which would make for some nice tournaments in each of these two categories throughout the country. Just a thought.

Willy8 ... One quick observation, then a response to your question ... Men's 70+ Major Plus teams are NOT allowed to roster players on a national basis ... They may draw from their own and bordering states AND add a maximum of two "out-of-region" players from East/West of the Mississippi River, but may NOT draw "snowbird" players ... As for your suggestion to eliminate the AA division (by merger into AAA), it's very unlikely that proposal would be implemented ... We are not concerned with building larger AAA brackets by forcing former AA teams into your rating level ...

The fundamental concept of the rating system is to afford all teams an equal opportunity to be successful in any event ... Your proposal is inconsistent with that goal, would harm the AA rated teams' competitive opportunities and is something they would (with merit) likely oppose vigorously ... You may, of course, appear before or submit an identifiable written proposal to the National Rules Committee for their consideration ... We make rules changes annually at the National Convention, and this year it will be during the last week of November in Las Vegas ...

Actually if you look at his numbers there would be less AAA teams than now. Its the Major bracket that would increase from 38 to 70.

Yes, that's true ... Which just expands the rating disparity "issue" to adversely affect the true AAA teams being kicked upstairs to Major ... We are always going to protect the lower rated teams ... If he wants to move into a larger pool of potential opponents, all his manager has to do is send us a note requesting the team be raised to the next rating level ... Such requests are rare, but we've never failed to grant one! ...
