March 21, 2018 Tremor 15 posts | New Ball Are the new SSUSA softballs with the micro cell technology available yet? If so, has anyone hit them? Thoughts? |
March 21, 2018 Jon44 Men's 55 149 posts | I went early to Saint George and see that they are playing the old Stote ball- same as previous years. New ball nowhere in sight. |
March 21, 2018 DieselDan Men's 75 602 posts | This question was asked in another thread recently and I believe double D mentioned that the order is on its way to a Texas (?) port. |
March 21, 2018 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | Tremor ... Three "Q's" by you ... [1] Not yet [2] Don't know [3] Sure hope (like everyone else) the "Slow Boat from China" gets to U.S. Port of Entry Houston soon! |
March 22, 2018 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | Houston Fire probably has them already and they are testing them in BP. So if they get to Sac with scuff marks, you will know why. |
March 22, 2018 marcster13 102 posts | I think the ship may have sunk! "The average travel time for a container vessel from Asia to the U.S. is between two weeks and a month. Documentation, customs clearance, handling and inland shipping can add 17 to 33 days to the total shipping time from most emerging market regions, and another 6 days once goods reach the United States." |
March 23, 2018 DCPete 409 posts | Maybe the boat turned around and went back to China to avoid the new tariffs . . . |
March 23, 2018 Jon44 Men's 55 149 posts | With Vegas right around the corner and SSUSA's commitment to the Rock at that tourney, it will be May at the earliest before anyone sees this new ball. Looking forward to seeing how it does on a hot humid day. |
March 26, 2018 MDog002 3 posts | The balls used in Mesquite last week are the TRUMP Stote SENIOR SPECIAL..."SS" designation. It's the CHEAPEST ASA ball that can be bought and is a restricted flight ball!! Complain to your managers so that we can at least get a decent ASA ball if the Rock's are no longer being used. This ball was and is junk as our local league quit buying the Senior Special designation ball and now use the "normal" Trump ZULU ball with normal pop. SSUSA is skinning us with higher tourney fees and jamming us up with these crap balls. |
March 26, 2018 DaveDowell Men's 70 4317 posts | MDog002 ... Congratulations on your first ever Message Board post! ... It's even more impressive because you managed to do it without one single factually accurate statement in the entire rant ... Nice try, though ... |
March 26, 2018 Dbax Men's 65 2101 posts | The ball in Mesquite was flying. Saw many home runs into the ridiculous wind! |
March 26, 2018 softball4b Men's 70 1248 posts | DD that is the same thing my ex wife says when we talk/communicate/lack there of. Actually we do not talk, but it is still funny. |
March 27, 2018 Jon44 Men's 55 149 posts | Last years ball performed well in Mesquite/SG, but everyone knew it would given moderate temps (60's/70's), altitude, and other factors. That ball isn't an issue in these conditions. It's when the temperature/humidity increases when that ball falls apart and performs poorly. The hope I have is that we have the new ball before the upcoming tourneys in the hot weather. There is nothing more deflating than hitting the ball on the nose and having it not respond. |
March 27, 2018 OZ40 549 posts | Said it before and I'll say it again. If balls are going to go 'bloomp' instead of 'crack' off of the bats I'll hang up the tournaments and just play drop-in with my friends, it's cheaper(retiree), more fun and closer to home. |
