Yes, buy a new cap from same manufature as bat and replace with 3M 5200, let set for 72 hours prior to hitting.

Will be fine.

Check EBay - have just about every brand and style available. They looked close to me but didn't read if they were "factory" replacement or some knock off - so check carefully - don't want to get anybody in trouble with non sanctioned equipment. And before anybody says anything or ASSumes anything - NO! LOL!) I have never bought one! I saw a couple when looking for a bat.

If it were me in this circumstance, instead of a "..player on a differ[ent] team..", it might be a good idea for him to perform this repair in the presence of a Tournament/League Director ... There's no "downside" to having a verifiable witness to what was actually done ... As a general theory, more questions arise than are answered when the cap comes off/breaks ... Proceed with caution and good luck ...

fisherman ... I believe YOU, but there's always that potential element of the unknown when it's coming from somewhere down the line! ... No bad inference was intended, just (hopefully) sound advice in case what he told you may not be totally true! ... You're doing the right thing in trying to help him with a simple repair ... Thanks!

I would call the warranty department of the manufacturer. Understand that they are under no obligation to do so, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had you send the bat to them and they offer to replace the end cap for no charge. Obviously, if they agree to do it, it would cost you the shipping fees to get the bat to them. But they might even pay for the return shipping back to you. I have had great experiences with Demarini and Miken - never dealt with any of the others. Demarini did this exact thing for me about 7 or 8 years ago.
