McKinlay Follow Up Question
Dave, Dbax asked a question regarding whether SSUSA will allow McKinlay to participate in any future sanctioned events. I'd like to know the answer to that and to further elaborate, what is SSUSA position on membership for felony convictions? I realize it makes no difference what I think regarding the decisions made by SSUSA, but everything I did and shared with players and bat enthusiasts was done in good faith and with the belief the P-413 was a legitimate bat and a product worthy of the sport. My investment in GSC to help get the bat to production was my entire savings and I figured if my cancer affliction won out, there would be income coming to my wife. Clearly with the fraud reality by the McKinlays, there will be no repayment to me. All that said, will he be allowed to participate in future SSUSA events? Therein lies the question. Thank You.

Ed ... This is a confidential player personnel matter, so we will not be commenting officially as it relates to Steve McKinlay ... However, we recognize that you have a personal interest because you were among the victims of his crimes, and will answer your questions as best we can within our privacy policy constraints ...

• The SSUSA does not have a formal policy with respect to the eligibility of convicted felons, regardless of whether or not they have completed the incarceration component of their sentencing;
• The SSUSA does not have a formal policy with respect to the eligibility of anyone facing pending felony prosecution ... We are aware of one such former player currently facing a murder charge;
• SSUSA reserves the right to accept or reject any application to join (or renew) as a member, provided any potential rejection is otherwise legal under federal and state discrimination laws and regulations ... Further, any such membership decision would evaluate the totality of the facts and circumstances involving the individual, both within and outside of the scope of SSUSA activities; and
• There is currently no pending application to join/renew with SSUSA by anyone we know or believe to be a convicted felon ... If and when such an application might occur, we will evaluate and decide appropriately and confidentially to the applicant ...

Ed, any further inquiries regarding this matter should be directed privately to the management of SSUSA ... You have our contact information, but this will be our last, and only, public response ... Thank you ...
