Huntsman Schedule
Looks like the HWSG folks are using quick scores.

I have a few friends that play in Saint George and they use Quick Scores for all of their city leagues and tournaments (as do many other associations/cities etc). The schedules look clean, they are easily updated (scores can be posted same day without too much effort), and accessible with a computer or phone without difficulty.

I have posted on this topic before and I don't want to beat a dead horse, but it's really, really nice to see scores of tournaments posted in something like this almost real time. I am in Vegas, but often miss SSUSA tournaments due to work in Phoenix or California. I would love the ability to go online and see how my friends teams are doing at the end of the day or next day. This is not hard to do.

With that said, I have no idea the cost of this service/application. Quick Scores has been around a while and I know the people running SSUSA are smart people so they probably have reasons why they haven't adopted something like this. It would just be a huge improvement and make a lot of players really happy to see scores posted quicker and not hand-written scribbles that are barely legible (not all of the time, but often times). If SSUSA management is being honest with themselves, they know this is a huge miss and something that would make many players happy.

I believe the HWSG used another provider in the past. The charge was like $15/team. One volunteer lady entered all the scores. If SSUSA were to look into this type of service, I don't imagine teams could not come up with and extra $15-20 entry fee.

I like the looks of this! Hopefully it helps to speed up getting the brackets done after the seeding games are completed...

I just read on another post that DaveDowell is speaking with Quickscores and the conversations have been productive. Kudo's for exploring this. I am 100% sure we don't understand the complexities involved, but I am also sure everyone would be so happy if something got worked out eventually for this type of schedule/results posting.

Thanks again Dave for attempts made to get this worked out.

Just an update on Quick Scores-- Huntsman is currently playing their seed games for 60-65 bracket teams. They all played their first two seed games last night and scores have already been posted online for those games. They get posted almost immediately after the games are completed and can easily be checked.

Jon44 ... The "issue" (and that's not intended to be confused with any "problem") is just the sheer magnitude of the WMC master schedule, which was 2,001 games this year ... That's a lot different than a 40-team I.S.S.A. regional event! ... My correspondence with QuickScores' CEO reveals that they most probably have the technical expertise to work with us, but limited actual experience with that kind of schedule including three-game-guarantee brackets as large as 85 teams ... We're open minded, and are also looking at the "output" issues in being able to print and post on-site the Bracket Board schedule sets without resorting to have to rent commercial billboards on the street next to the venues! ... This schedule set was 118 pages scalable to 8½" x 11" format ... The commercial presentations are much more cumbersome and (currently) lack the ability to list variable game times based on earlier "If" games not being required in some elimination brackets ... We're hopeful, though! ...

Dave, I hope you can work it out with an online Scoring website. I know you'll make a lot of senior softball players happy when they can see daily updated scores from the big tournaments. Winter Nationals and Winter Worlds are right around the corner. Like Dan mentioned above, Huntsman is using QuickScores this year and although it's not the 600+ teams we had for Worlds, they do have 350 teams competing over 2 weeks.
Good Luck,
Bruce
