Ratings question
I just turned 50 and am unsure of most of the senior rules. Here's my situation. I committed to a 50+ team last fall for the upcoming season. At the time, they were AAA. They have since been moved to major. To be honest, I don't much care what level I play at. So, the hr or equalizer rules don't matter to me. Just looking to play ball and have fun with a good group of guys. However, I would like to know how this affects my personal rating. If the team this yr. doesn't work out for the future, what rating would I have going forward? I'd imagine that it'd restrict my choices if my rating was also major and I had to look around for another major team or have a AAA use one of their (I'm assuming) limited # of major chips that can be on their team. So, since I wasn't on a roster that qualified to move up to major, do I come in as a AAA player on a major team? Or, am I auto. a major player once I play for this team? Any info. would be appreciated, thanks.

EBAT50 ... SSUSA tracks all player histories, which means we store all of the teams you play with in SSUSA events, and that team's age and rating at the times you play with them ... All players new to SSUSA start with a presumption that they are a "AAA" player unless there is verifiable information that would justify a different rating (Example: You played ASA or U-trip Open ball and would not be considered less than one of the top players out there) ...

After you play in two events, that becomes your player rating experience history ... That "number" follows you for the current and the following two tournament seasons ... You may play down one rating as one of three "out of rating" players each team below Major+ is entitled to have on their roster ... You may not "play down" more than one rating level ... There is a very good Team Rating Index Chart that illustrates the concept .. It's available from the RULES page of this website .. If you have additional questions, please call the Sacramento Home Office at (916) 326.5303 during normal business hours on the Left Coast and ask for an eligibility specialist ... Good luck!

Thanks for the info. and I'll def. call the office if you don't want to answer one more ques. and then you won't hear from me on this topic again. I just want to clarify a part of your reply that I don't fully understand. First, you say all new players come in as AAA. Then, you say that if I play 2 tournies with my team where they go in as a major team, (in a sanctioned SSUSA tourney) then my "player rating exp. history" number will be as a major player for 2 yrs. So, does "major" replace my individual AAA rating at that point then? Again, this won't change who I play with this yr. If I end up being a major player right from the start, that's fine with me. The only way this even comes into play is if it doesn't work out with this yr's team and I have to look for a new team next yr. I imagine that there's some msg board heroes that try to give you guys a hard time about their ratings just like in reg. ball. This isn't that. I'm just trying to understand all my options. Thanks for the info.

No problem EBAT50 ... All new-to-SSUSA players have a presumptive starting point of "AAA" as mentioned above ... We also recognize that sometimes teams have a case of the "shorts" for a given roster event and they may have to pick up a player from a lower rating for that one tournament ... While a player's "rating experience history" number is the highest rating index he plays for, if that is only ONE event, we will disregard it and NOT move his number up ... However, if a player plays TWO or more events at the higher rating index, he is no longer eligible for the "one time exception", and his number will be the higher one for the current and next two playing seasons ... If this isn't clear, by all means please call Sacramento and they can walk you through it ... Good luck! ..
