This event is in June 2017 and covers many different types of sports including softball. Looks like its over a 2 week period and happens every 2 years. Has anyone participated in the softball tournament? Did it last 7 days? Looks like each stated has Senior Olympics qualifying tournaments.
Save your money no team rating,s, everyone the same rating, very little turnout.
Played in Palo Alto a few years ago and the other seven teams in our age group were from md, ny and nj.
Awards are medals.
Huntsman games are five times better. In June there are better Ssusa and spa tournaments. We didn't,t even go to the Cleveland tournament national senior games and it was only 35 Miles away

Senior Games is a national movement. I also played in Palo Alto/Sunnyvale a few years ago. There are several challenges:
If you don't have a TD knowledgeable about skill levels, there can be some very lopsided games. Few TDs ARE knowledgeable about teams from other regions. The result, even with handicaps, can still be lopsided.
If you do have such a TD, the entry fee is much higher than most more local tournaments. In California, the entrance fee was about 50% higher than the typical tournaments in the area. We attended once and never went again.
As a result of high fees and potential mismatched teams, the number of teams is much smaller than one would think. The result: mismatched teams not only by skill but by age. Last year, I believe our regional Senior Games mens softball tournament was cancelled for lack of interest and too few teams.
I think that in addition to the medals, participants also receive T-shirts. I wore my Senior Games long-sleeved shirt just this week! And I don't think we earned it by winning our bracket.

Most of the info above is correct, but!
You need some more info. The senior games are held every four
years. You must play in a state tournament and be in the top
three in each age group to qualify for National games. I have
been to the one in Kentucky, San Francisco and Cleveland. Yes
they cost more but if you like to play ball it's a chance to
play with people you have not played with, assuming you start
a new team, and play against teams you have not played against
before. It is very hard to get commitments from player for
this tournament because you play state tournament one year and
National the next. I have played 65 70 and 75 and found that
most teams had some very good player and some very bad player
so it all came out even in end. Cleveland was the best one
of the three that I played in. Not sure when the next National
games are but I think next year 2018. Each state has it's own
rules. Tenn will not let you play on their softball team unless
you live in the state. I think the rules are, check them out, if there is not a team in your state you can play in another state.
Kentucky has not every had a team even when the tournament
was here. If you put a team together I would like to tryout with
you, 65, 70 ,75. Yes, it's like the Huntsman games, they make it last 7 days.
Wes
Wes, national games are held every year. Last year Minneapolis, Minnesota. This year is Birmingham Alabama.
PoolShark and Wes you are incorrect every two years. 2015 Minneapolis and 2017 Birmingham. Been that way for years. 2013 Cleveland and 2011 in Houston. Check the NSG website.

Kev I'm at gwesarchit@bellsouth.net
Kev, in Minneapolis it was run as a 4 day tournament for each division but overall softball lasted 7 days. In 2011 it was a 6 day tournament for each division but to many teams complained about so it was reduced. Great event overall if you get a chance to attend especially if you can compete in more then just softball. Costly if just doing softball.
