Vegas Bat Display
Hello Guys,
I will be coming to Vegas a few days early and arriving on Tuesday the 27th. I will be representing Miken Sports and set up at Big League Field of Dreams. I will try to get there some on Tuesday late afternoon but I will be sure to be there both Wednesday and Thursday. I will also be there in between my own games Friday through Sunday depending on my playing schedule. You can always call or text me to check on timing at 561-718-7504. Miken has authorized some special pricing on bats during the event so make sure you come see me. Big thanks to the staff at SSUSA for setting all of this up.

Hey Dave...
just wondering if i (and anyone else) can advertise our businesses and use this message board to sell our products anytime we wish? Appears that at least 2 individuals continue time after time to have special dispensation. Just asking.

I was wondering that myself. Only because you can't miss it. They kind of force you to buy from one spot or vendor when they come to tournaments. It makes you wonder on kick backs. I need to be able to buy bats at a discount so I will not complain. So if a bat vendor is telling you that one bat is the best now is he being truthful or is he just selling himself until he goes to another tournament and is trying to sell another brand. Just a curious thought. Great post Db 14.

DB,
I am there representing Miken who is a sponsor of SSUSA and a official vendor for the event. That is why I posted this as such.
Thanks,

Yes i understand that however let's be honest...you also push Dudley bats as well as other items. I frankly don't care but you must admit you have garnered a very nice sales forum here (with very minor push back from SSUSA) and continue to do so. Message board guidelines do seem to be quite clear.

Miken has named Team 1 Sports as their official (and only) authorized representative at this year's World Masters. Team 1 Sports is authorized to sell only at the Big League Dreams Vendor Fair. Suncoast Sports (Lee Trotter) is identically situated as the authorized representative for Adidas, selling their products only at BLD. These two vendors are acting in their official capacity as the sole representatives of SSUSA National Sponsors in Las Vegas. They are not violating any posting guidelines for this forum.

If there are others you are concerned about, call the office Monday and we can talk. Again, non-authorized self proclaimed bat "representatives" and "dealers" are advised: DO NOT BRING A TRUNK LOAD OF BATS TO SELL ON THE SIDE at any of the playing sites for this year's tournament. There is additional information on this in the "Vendors" thread.

As previously stated i understand the Miken issue however with all due respect you state " they are not violating any posting guidelines" My reference was to the following type of regular posts......" Breaking news....
I just received word from Dudley that I will be receiving the first batch of new 2.0 Lightnings in the next 7-10 days. If you need more info on the bat or have questions please get in touch."

Yep, that's a bit of a different problem (with multiple posters here). The best analogy I can offer us that I feel like the guy trying to win the "smash the gophers with a mallet" game at the County Fair. It's rigged, I'm too old and slow and it's not possible to smack 'em all! This one is legit, though. Good luck in Vegas!

DB and Dave,
I understand your point. What I try and do as a FREE service for senior softball players is to provide accurate and honest testing and evaluation reports on equipment that we utilize. I spend my own time and my own money on a daily basis testing equipment from ALL companies so I can give you honest opinions of the products all year around. This also includes ASA and USSSA bats as well. I do not try and put "selling" information in the posts just that players can call me for information or questions if they wish. Dave has ZAPPED me in the past several times (rightfully so I may add 😜) if I worded something improperly. I have also contacted them directly to get approval on certain things. This message board is a free service that I feel the best senior association lets us utilize just as what I do is a free service to all senior players. Nobody is obligated to anything beyond that. I' have had hundreds of players hacking me for what I do on this and other boards and I do it because I have a passion for the game and I happen to be a self proclaimed bat geek. I've been working on what makes them tick for 25 or so years now. I'm sorry if I have offended you in any way, I'm just trying to help educate players as to what is out there for them to make good decisions.
Best Regards,

One final last comment and we can put this to rest as i believe the other posters are astute enough to see what is going on here. Your statements regarding "This message board is a free service" and "Nobody is obligated to anything beyond that". is accurate. However you cannot deny that you have profited via sales by mixing in your product evaluations along with your business name, phone number, locations and more. You can spin it anyway you wish....This simply has led to more sales for YOU. Maybe this will help to clarify.... Other licensed and authorized small business individuals do not have the option to sell or advertise on this board as they play by the rules thus affecting their income. An option for the most part you have been able to avoid. I hope your sales do well in Vegas but i ask that you put the shoe on the other foot and see the advantage you have been afforded by ignoring the true definition of the rules.

DB,
I would recommend you to call the office as suggested, pay the sponsorship fees, and become a sponsor of SSUSA and then follow the guidelines they give you. Best of luck to you and your business.

Is there a reason why you are not with Dudley or Adidas at the tournament since you are supposedly a licensed dealer with them. Did Miken pay for your sponsorship? Who paid for Dudley and Adidas. Are you allowed to sell Adidas or Dudley at this event? Just curious now. So if I want to buy a new Dudley can I buy one from you? Obviously you get a little better treatment than others. There is nothing wrong with that until someone figures it out. Good Luck will see you in Vegas. You can't miss me, I look like a bank robber.

Ghost,
I will be swinging the Ultra 2 Black Maxload which is the black/green model with the 1/2 ounce end load. I have been swinging that bat ever since I hit the first proto types of it last year when we were developing it. We are working on a few new things/technology now but it won't be available until after the first of the year as its development is in the infant stages now.

Alan Tanner is legit.
I have not only bought his equipment, but also benefited from numerous conversations with him over this game we love. Forget the dollars side of this discussion.
I have also grieved with him over the recent loss of his son.
This forum and all of senior softball is a better place because for the passion for the game that players like Alan are willing to share with others.

I will add that Alan is top notch also....I have met him personally and talked to him on the phone many times....he always answers my texts and emails and is never to busy for me.....any problems, he takes care of them for me.....we all could try to do what he does but after a week or two of me and all my softball buddies, I would resign.....we are a very demanding group to say the least....I have nothing but high praise and respect for the man and not only does he supply good information and equipment, he backs it up by his playing and competing....Brian from Syracuse

Alan Tanner is better than Legit.....he delivers!!!
Usually within 2 days...myself and other team members have recently purchased Lightning 2.0 from Alan.
When you call someone who is out in the middle of an ocean on vacation fishing and gives you the service he does means something. I am a customer as long as I will be playing this game.

WHY????

I don't get some of the responses on this thread. it seems when someone asks a question people read way too far into things. DB14 for, what appears to me, just wants the rules of advertising to be fair to all. TRI18 stated his company pays a sponsorship fee which gives him certain rights to promote. Even then it is still monitored and corrected when needed. DB14 seems to feel(my opinion) that one minute he promotes dudley then miken etc. Its a company he works for they sell more then 1 bat.
Now for tri18 to say he doesn't promote sales here that's a stretch but a good response none the less....lol

Hey guys have you tried this bat, its on fire.... great pop and if you want to talk more about how great it is here is my business number and did i mention we have them in stock at great prices....but im not selling here...

All and all it sounds to me that Alan IS following the rules, does gain sales from bat reviews and his company pays for the preferred treatment by way of sponsorship fees.

He is of good character and a nice person just as i'm sure DB14 is. So if you want to promote on here pay up.
My .025 cents

To HAT MAN....with all due respect please i will re explain my own question/statement. Basic bat or product reviews are great. This has absolutely nothing to due with or is a shot at anyone's character as many of you have taken this, you missed the point. it has nothing to do with whose bats you sell Dudley or Miken. It also has nothing to do with fees you paid (you may wish to obtain the fee issue policy directly from SSUSA as i did). It is a simple matter of sellers with a business advertising TO SELL on this board. Trying to be subtle about it is still advertising to sell. Fees or no fees (please research the guidelines). SSUSA does try to police individuals who violate the no selling rules but as stated previously in this thread by Dave, it is an on going nightmare. I want to state that i have no dog in this fight and my initial comment was if one or two sellers are allowed to sell then all should be afforded the same opportunity. Dave you may want to jump in here when your not smashing the gophers.
