rating a person
if there is a 50 major and he is 55 and wants to play 55s what is his rating

SSUSA does NOT rate players, but we do track the rating experience history of the teams the player plays with in the current and two previous Seasons ... A 50-Major player carries a rating experience history index of 8, which is the equivalent of 55-Major Plus ...

patrick jt ... You would be able (if you are otherwise eligible) to be on a 55-Major roster IF that team has not used their full allotment of three out-of-rating players ... The 55-Major teams population in SoCal is considerably larger than the 55-Major plus ... Good luck!

This is exactly what is wrong with SSUSA and it strict rules...This guy now is stuck, he might not even be able to play for what maybe 2 years...assuming that he will like to play 55 with his friends. SSUSA needs to seriously look at this rating non-rating players mess that they have. Have a list as the SPA of impact players, those guys on that list can only play M or M+, but to hold somebody hostage because he played on a M or M+ team for 2 years is inconceivable. It is senior ball we are lucky and blessed that at this age can still run and enjoy a little bit of what ever we have left of life. Let us live SSUSA. My 2 centavos.

Paco13 ... Just so someone doesn't misinterpret part of your (misleading) post, advising a player to not participate in SSUSA for two years in an attempt to "wait out" his experience history rating index fails ... When a player voluntarily suspends his participation, we do the same with the "two year" waiting period ... When he resumes, so does the "two year clock" ... Just so you're clear on this, despite your apparent disagreement ...

SSUSA this the issue. I agree my post is a little misleading, is not what I meant. It just don't make any sense to me, that somebody that has not played any softball but in this case any senior softball for two years, he is hostage to the last level that his team played at...until he starts playing again at the same level for the clock to re-start, perhaps in California your skills do not deteriorate as fast as it does here in the right coast (LOL), but believe me your skills level deteriorate rather fast without playing at this age...Again I might be wrong. Your association your rules is up to us to abide by them or not.

Paco .. If a guy decides to sit it out, it's reasonable to assume that his contemporaries who continue to play will have some deterioration of skills as they age, too ... Maybe not as much as the guy who's not exercising, so it's just an opinion (by either of us) ... Thanks for the comments ..

The rule is terrible. If a person is 55 and playing 50 major he should be able to play "50 AAA", 50 major as well as 55 major.

For the SSUSA office....here in the Islands we have a limited number of higher rated teams. As I get older I am limited to my pass history, so if I can't play with teams at my age, I can concluded that I must play younger to keep playing...are there other options for me beside 3000 miles away bordering states? Patrick Jt,

it is not as simple as you are making it be.

Example:

55 Major Plus Team plays in LV worlds and finish in the top 3, all players on that roster are now rated 50 Major Plus for the next 2 years. So now all they players are rated 50 and 55 Major Plus.

So my answer to the question would be no. Just because a player is a 55 Major Plus does not mean he should be automatically rated 50 Major since he is a 55 year old player.

The example is a fact from last year 2015 season.

i did that in the begging of the year had no results and was told to write it out in a email and send it in went know where. There is another post where this is being talked about. I believe if i call in it goes to just them and me and on here we all can learn from it and thank you for your input on just call but i would much rather have it in writing on here.

patrick ... Being "in writing" here is totally worthless (from either you or us) ... This is an unregulated, anonymous free speech zone to which we attach zero importance or credibility as to what is posted by the members ... Definitive rulings on specific player eligibility issues must come from the SSUSA office and they will be in writing privately ... You are giving the impression that you have concerns about revealing who you are and are hopeful we may blunder, based on incomplete and/or inaccurate information, into the decision you want ... We may actually rule that way, but it will be by careful analysis of your own circumstances ... Our advice remains consistent: Call us and this will be resolved very quickly for you ... (Your post count of 44 messages on topic just this week is consuming far more of your time, without results, than a 15-minute call would take.)

patrick jt......What is your problem? Simply pick up a phone and dial the number for SSUSA and clear what ever it is rolling around that head of yours and "TALK" to someone in the main office. You keep beating a drum on this site and like you were told, 44 times.....Duh.....Get a clue!

A person 55 who has played with his friend on a 50 major team for years. Team breaks up or player decides to play with his own age. 55 player who has never played major+ is rated as a 55 major+ player. If this is true, it makes no sense. SSUSA please enlighten me.

Case 2: 55 year old playing on a 55 major team goes down to play on a 50 major team. Doesn't work out well for him. Next year he goes back to join a 55 major team and is told he now has a 55 major plus rating. Is this how the system is designed????

The system is simply designed to keep track of the Rating Index of all teams that the player played with. It does nothing more, but the rebuttable presumption is, regardless of age, if the player is good enough to play down at an equivalent or higher rating, that becomes his R/I number. Sounds like you need to get on the phone too in case "your friend" might be you. It's so easy to look at a specific player's history and to offer that player sound, reliable and accurate information. Just not here in the Message Board jungle! Happy July 4th Holiday weekend.
