Insurance to Play on City Fields
Our senior softball league has been playing in our town for decades and when our teams went to the Parks & Rec Dept last week to pay for the fields for our summer season our city, out of the blue, told us each team has to have a one million dollar insurance policy to play and practice on their fields. We are blindsided by their new policy. Our "league" is rather informal. We have no league dues, budget or fees. Mostly we are just a bunch of old guys who get together regularly to play softball in town when we are not playing in half-century etc.

Has anyone run into this sort of conflict in your town? Obviously we are not in a position to purchase a one million dollar policy, so at the moment it is looking like our city is going to kill our "league". Not sure how we can resolve this.

Thanks!

You can purchase insurance for your local league or each individual team thru K&K Insurance. Its the same policy that most youth leagues, Little League - Babe Ruth etc. use around the country.
Our tournament team the North East Sultans carries a 1 million policy for 1 year and the cost is right at $300.00 for a 1 year policy. $250.00 deductible. Our team feels very comfortable knowing we are protected when playing in local play, travel tournaments and practicing. Yes, you are covered during practice sessions!
Here is the link -- you can apply online, or call their reps.

Hope this helps!
