Dec. 21, 2015 sliprye1 Men's 60 10 posts | Call for Prayers for John X.E. McAndrew Asking that everyone take a moment or two to say a prayer for John X.E. McAndrew......he was recently life flighted to Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philly due to a serious medical condition. I am sure X.E. is a name that is well known across the board, a great athlete, competitor, mentor, coach, team mate and friend. X.E. has never been too busy to take the time to talk softball with anyone...never mattered what level you played at he was always willing to give tips on hitting....something he has always excelled at! X.E. is a member of the Softball Hall of Fame at both state and national levels....always an ambassador of the game. So I ask that we all take a moment out of our hectic schedule and say a prayer for a quick and full recovery for our dear friend! |
Dec. 21, 2015 sjuhoops 145 posts | Played with X.E. and against him back a long time ago. Besides being a big hitter he is a funny funny man. Long time ago we were waiting to play Joe Kleckos team in Delaware. XE asked one of our guys John Davide to go over to the first base side and see if Joe would take a picture. Joe K says sure so XE hands the camera to Klecko and ask him to take his and John Davides picture. I remember that Joe thought it was the funniest things he had seen. I believe they went on to be good friends. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Hank C. |

We hit together, played on same league team and he helped me get my swing back after I was gone from the game for a while. Loved talking to him about the game. Agree with Pete, he will be greatly missed, my sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to his family. |

Dec. 27, 2015 Storm20 2 posts | Sad news indeed... With the Passing of XE yesterday, I decided to activate a posting account on this thread to publicly express my tremendous respect and love for John.I also want to share a personal story and how he impacted my life. For those of you who did not know him, he was a tremendous, talented player in not only stature. He had a giant sized heart and was always a positive influence to those around him. We played together for the first time back in 1985 for John Imlay/Bombat out of New Jersey. We were at the worlds in Burlington NC, the first day of play ended and I was walking through the lobby of the hotel with most of the team when I heard a voice coming from the nearby hotel restaurant " eat with the old guys tonight". I turn and see XE and Ernie Hicks who was also one of the true gentlemen I had the pleasure of playing with early on. They were taking a table and waving me over.I decided to eat with them and was seated. A beautiful waitress approached our table and quickly XE started joking around with her and informing here she was waiting on some very important people and that she may not know this but she was speaking to the senator of Pennsylvania. We all laughed, placed our orders and she walked away. I said to XE, that girl is beautiful, very sweet, down to earth and marriage material. XE responds, I can arrange that. I said noooo, don't say anything . Of course that went on deaf ears. The waitress comes back with our drinks and he informs here that I think she's marriage material and she should come to our game tomorrow and then go on a date with me. Ernie also chimed in, encouraging her to take the senators advice. lol. She agreed to come to the game. Well, to shorten the story, she comes to our game. Gary Richter and several on the team, fuel the fire further by encouraging her to go out with me and we go on a date. 4 years later we were married. So... my small contribution and personal story about XE I wanted to share with all of you . My wife and I express our deepest and heartfelt condolences to all of XEs' family and friends.
